Many of my students come from a community that is lacking the resources necessary to bolster a child's imagination and instill in them a love of learning in fun and innovative ways. Despite their circumstances, they come in to school each and every day eager to learn. At the tender age of four, many lack the skills and abilities to comprehend stories read aloud. This could possibly in part be due to the fact that they are not read to at home or because of today's increasingly growing emphasis on technology and the short attention span it creates. It is my hope that the use of these felt items will serve as a way to creatively bridge the gaps created by their home life.
