The students who come to my second grade classroom are students who do not always have the same opportunities as their counterparts in other areas of our same city. Not all of the students have access to technology at home and many did not have access to books prior to attending school. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to listen to reading from a young age, which impacts many aspects of the reading process including fluency. The students are eager to learn, and are loving, encouraging, and sweet young people. They use perseverance, courage, and effort daily to come to school everyday doing their personal best.
