  • Freezer Needed for School Pantry

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for the chest freezer and the two thermometers. These items are currently being used in our school food pantry for storage of frozen food items. The thermometers allow our school pantry to make certain that the freezer holds a safe temperature. The students are using these items to as a place to find the frozen foods that they need in their time of food insecurity.

The students were so excited when they saw the items. There are a group of students who volunteer in the pantry. They were so very happy to see the new items of a chest

freezer and thermometers. One student said, "I hope the people who donated these know how thankful we are!" Another did a little dance around the chest freezer. Every student who comes into the pantry is impressed with our new chest freezer.

The next steps for our students will be to fill the chest freezer with our monthly order. The thermometers will be used to do a daily temperature check which has to be logged.

    Thank you!”

  • Help with Hunger

    Funded Mar 9, 2024

Thank you so much for the microwave, plastic spoons and large microwavable bowls. the students are so excited to have these items. Already today, students have microwaved canned soup from the pantry using the bowls and the spoons. Students have also used the spoons to eat applesauce. And, this is only the first day that we have had these items! The students are so happy to have these highly useful things.

It is so vital for students to have proper nutrition in order to achieve academic success. Your donation will definitely help our school pantry service the students throughout the day and after school. So many of our students suffer from hunger. Having the ability to warm food, use a bowl and have a spoon with which to eat means so much to the students.”

  • Printer Needed

    Funded Mar 6, 2024

Thank you for giving our students the ability to print their work, The printer is helping our students by giving them the chance to see and hold their work that has been printed.

The most exciting thing has been seeing the students get excited when they see their papers printed in vibrant colors. The students have such pride in their work!

It is so important to be able to print a paper and be able to read aloud from your printed work. Having the ability to print their assignments has meant so much to our students. Many of our students do not own a printer so having the ability to utilize one in the library is a great thing!”

  • Please Open This Can

    Funded Nov 15, 2022

First thing I want to say is thank you. I have run the school food pantry for several years and have seen firsthand the need for can openers. Students sometimes won't take a can because they do not have any method of opening it. Now that hurdle no longer exists. The students are grabbing cans of fruit as healthy snack and utilizing the can openers.

The most amazing thing for me has been that many students do not know how to use a can opener. I have recently been teaching this skill to my students. Utilizing a tool like a can opener is lifetime knowledge that every person should have the ability to do. Your donation of can openers is not only opening cans but teaching a valuable skill. The next step will be can opener lessons!

The students were very happy when they saw the can openers. We discussed how important they were for the school food pantry. Many students who had not gone to the pantry in the past said that they would visit it now because of the new ability to open cans.

    Thank you!”

  • Growing the New Green Team

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

The students were very excited when they learned about the donation. A few girls cheered and clapped. There was a joyful attitude that now we can get started doing what we had been learning about in Power Points. Finally, the lessons on plants that I had been teaching were going to become real. The students were very happy to know that our goal was taking off and we were going to be growing plants.

Currently, it is winter is our area. We are setting up the boxes and making lists of the things we are planning on planting. I am going to local shops checking to see when spring plants will start to arrive and what seedlings we could /should start out using. The best specific moment was the setting up of the boxes. It was fun to watch the kids read the directions and set the boxes up so that they will be ready for spring plants.

Our next steps will be planting and maintaining the plants in the boxes. We are really looking forward to seeing things grow!”

  • Printer Please

    Funded Feb 14, 2019

Thank you so much for the printer. The students are so excited to be able to print their papers and job applications when they come to the library. Already many students have visited the library just to print personal narratives which are for their English class. Additionally, I have had a student overjoyed that she got her first job after using the printer to create a resume. And yet another student is so excited that she can print a story that she has been working on which she hopes to have published. The printer has been a fantastic addition that the library sorely needed. The printer will continue to make a difference in the students lives.”

  • Shelve These Books Part 2

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you so much for the generous donation of shelves for our library. The students will use the shelves to find the books that they need for projects and entertaining reading. So far, I have had several students come to the library fascinated with many of the titles that they see on the shelves. Students have checked out books and used them for research before and after school.

The students were so happy when they saw the shelves. One student could not contain his excitement started building the shelves for me during his lunch period. Upon seeing the shelves built many students volunteered to help with unloading boxes to fill the new shelves with books. This donation has thrilled the minds of several students.

The next steps for my students regarding this donation are that they will have a wide variety of books to view and read that will be available and neatly organized on the shelves. Students will have their reading and research increase because of the new accessibility to materials. This will in turn improve their grades throughout their classes.

Once again, thank you for your generous donation.”

  • Can't Hear Anything!

    Funded Dec 12, 2015

Thank you for the donation of speakers for my classroom. I used the speakers this morning. I have been teaching a unit on mythology. Today we focused on Native American myths. The speakers you donated allowed me to show the students video clips about various Native American tribes which were the focal points of the myths we were learning. Through usage of the speakers, the students were able to see and hear various facts about several Native American tribes. This experience helped bring the topic to life.

The thing that is most exciting about these speakers for the students is that it will allow them to hear music, listen to influential speeches and watch and hear various educational videos. Many students are accustomed to a multimedia world and the speakers will allow access to words and sounds that will help to keep their interests peaked.

All of the students are thrilled with the addition of speakers to the lessons. Each student is happy that they will now be able to listen to the sound of any video clip that I share. Your donation is much appreciated. Thank you!!”

  • Shelf These Books

    Funded Sep 10, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The students were so excited to see the shelves filled with books. Students made comments about how pleased they were to finally have access to the books that will aid them in writing papers for various classes. Other students have commented that they are happy to be able to finally read some of the books which have been boxed.

Since the shelves have wheels, I have been able to roll the books into various classrooms. Students are using the books to write research papers, read for pleasure during free reading times and use to look up facts for classes.

This project has boosted student learning by putting the vital resource of books in the hands of the students. Students will be able to use the books to aid in their research and pleasure reading, both of which will allow their minds to grow.

    Thank you!”

  • Show Students a Powerpoint

    Funded Oct 22, 2015

The students were thrilled when they saw the Power Point that I presented using the LCD projector. Their attention was instantly grabbed when they saw the bright colors and detailed instructions that each slide had for them. The ability to project a Power Point enthralled the students. There were comments of "cool" and "wow." The students were very thankful for your generosity. It was a 6th grade class that first got to see a projected Power Point and I believe it made a difference in how they learned that day.

The students are using the resource to view their lessons on a screen in a more creative way then they normally have had. Currently, I have been focusing on anti-bullying and using the novel "Bridge to Terabithia" to expand their horizons. Today's lesson focused on what to do if someone is bullying you and how the characters in the novel handled being bullied. The students were captivated by being able to see the steps to avoid feeding into a bullying situation. The projector brought the lesson to life for the students.

The project has boosted student learning by allowing the visual learners to see the lessons in a colorful way. It has helped keep the students focused by allowing the lessons to become more technologically advanced. At the end of today's lesson, when I reviewed what we had learned, there was greater involvement by the students. I believe this is because they had been able to view the lesson in a creative manner because of the generous donation that you made.

    Thank you.”
