  • Creating Classroom Books - Classroom Readers

    Funded Jan 15, 2025

I want to start by saying a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your generous donation. The supplies that we received have had an incredible impact on the students in the classroom. These resources have opened a world of possibilities for the hands -on learning experience.

When the boxes with our new additions to the classroom arrived, the students were so excited to use and discover each one out. The look on the student's faces as each box was opened, is something that can not be described.

For some young students, this was the first time that they will write and create their own books as new authors, and giving the students new way to express their creative side. It was clear that they felt empowered to explore and experiment in new ways.

Your donation has made a lasting impression on the students and the environment of the classroom. As well as giving my students the tools to express themselves in a powerful and meaningful way. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hess

When the sensory and art supplies first arrived, the students were so excited to try each one out. The look on the student's faces as each box was opened, is something that cant be described.

For some young students, this was the first time interacting with some of the sensory toy. As for the art supplies, it gave the students new way to express their creative side. It was clear that they felt empowered to explore and experiment in new ways.

Your donation has made a lasting impression. these new sensory and art supplies have not only elevated our classroom environment but also has given my students the tools to express themselves in a powerful and meaningful way. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.”

  • Essentially We Need the Essentials

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

We can all agree that it's been quite the year! The effects of the pandemic were very much felt in September, starting late, moving to remote. Getting back to normal from such a rocky start took some doing. By the time we were finally into the swing of things with remote, blended learning to effect, and with it came masks and PPE.

Although this story is quite familiar, children with autistic spectrum disorder feel the disruption in a very invasive way. For children who thrive on schedule and order, this sent them for a tailspin. With some emotional and extra support, we were not only able to survive this historic year, but make it a successful one!

This is end, all of us in the classroom want to say THANK YOU! Your help was crucial in getting us back on schedule and back into routine. Essentials such as printing and laminating allow us to have schedules that are in picture form and easily interactive. It's the small things that make a powerful difference, and that was YOU and your support.

Wishing you a remarkable and healthy summer of reuniting with family, with spending time with friends, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors!

    Best,

    Judy”

    With gratitude,

    Funded Dec 16, 2016

It's hard to find the right words when thinking about how much your assistance helped my students. My students have a hard time communicating; for many of them, saying "thank you" is a distant goal. A goal that they will be one step closer to, thanks to the gift you so graciously sent.

The new kidney table is at the hub of our classroom. It is situated in a way that allows every student a designate place, giving them the ability to access each other and the teaching staff. It allows for continuous appropriate communication and lets them begin to network when doing projects. A small step, a huge help toward them promoting every day living skills. Many of these projects focus on their sensory integration skills, another area where donors such as your selves added so much.

The different sensory activities have added so very much to our classroom. My students have learned the concepts of sharing and requesting the sensory items that were donated by you. It brings them so much joy and smiles on their faces when they are playing with the water balls or the sensory tubs.

Lewis Carrol once said, "One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others." If this is the case, then you all have done a great deal.”

A laminating machine. A simple but integral part of our classroom. The students communicate via pictures, starting with switching icons for concepts and continuing by grouping pictures to show multi-part thoughts. Each icon is laminated to allow for continuous use.

My classroom consists of six beautiful, yet challenged, children. The school is a special education setting primarily geared to students on the PPD spectrum. Students are grouped based on age, creating classrooms with immensely different learning levels. My students are at a second to third grade level with abilities ranging from young preschool to lower first grade. Their greatest challenge stems from their inability to communicate their wants and needs verbally or even non-verbally.
