I teach a variety of courses in inclusion. I co-teach Economics and we heavily focus on career readiness and would like to create more work based learning opportunities for our students so they can obtain employability and soft skills that will help them obtain competitive jobs when they graduate. I would like to teach my students financial literacy skills by developing an entrepreneurial project that is cross curricular and blends in career readiness standards. We are part of a large and costly project within our school to help develop a digital archive of all the documents, yearbooks, etc. that spans back as far as the 1900s. One way to help with the archives is fundraising and we would like to do this by creating a print shop in the school. This shop can include clubs, art classes, and individual students throughout the school. The cricut and digital transfer machines are the equipment we need to get started so we can make t-shirts, baseball hats, masks, and other items that we can sell to raise money for the project as it is needed. We will also provide services to sports and other clubs who would like to purchase affordable items for their participants and the community. Students will lead and develop this program by creating inventory sheets, product lists with descriptions and prices, manufacture orders, deliver, etc. They will apply and interview for positions in the "company" such as CEO, Product Manager and Operations Manager, etc. This company will not only benefit my students, but all the students and staff in our large urban school in many ways.
