  • Extra Seats for Extra Students & Supplies

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Thank you!! I know this is not a proper way to start a letter, however, I always tell my students to always start a story with a clear understanding of where you are; and I am grateful. As for the students, it is like finding the golden ticket. The first day my students' saw the new chairs they were all excited and one student exclaimed "I want to sit in the pilot chair!" It has become a privilege and a prize to sit up front in these seats. When the first student, who didn't have a seat walked in and realized that one of the chairs was for him he just started jumping in place.

My heart melts when the visiting students that had no seats now feel excited to have their own awesome "pilot chair". As for the new dry-erase markers and erasers, these were such a hit! When I first started writing on the board, they were very excited to use markers that were fresh and vibrant. The markers and erasers we had been using were definitely showing their age and the new markers seemed to put new life in the classroom. One of the students exclaimed: Good! I do no have to have my hands full of marker! (a new English Language Learner).

I sincerely thank you for your generosity, you have made a difference in more than one child, but many children that may be struggling in ways we are not. I admire your anonymity, I take this as a sign of good faith and a good Samaritan that really cares, and donates to help, not to be admired. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sandoval de Moore

  • Safe & Neat - Bookcase & Basic Supplies

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The impact has been great. Using their new supplies and a place to neatly store them is a tremendous help. They are grateful that they can have their own space to place their folders. All my students told me how much they love their new crayons that they use for construction paper; they are amazed on their brightness and they get excited to represent graphs and other math-related pictures. I still have these materials that I am currently using with students this year and they are also very grateful.

I want to humbly and sincerely thank you for all that you have done to help strengthen the foundation of education in our nation. The positive impact you have given to our students in our classrooms will create Ripples of greatness globally! My students will be forever grateful for your selflessness and positive social change to our school and the nation. We are forever grateful for your company's generosity.”

  • Using the Internet to Learn English and More!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The impact has been enormous. Using the Internet I can show images and videos of concepts difficult to explain to a student with little or no English. These images and videos and other visual aids has help my English Language Learners (ELLs) understand words and concepts that they may not otherwise have understood without technology.

For my more advanced students learning English, they use the internet to help them research projects and also to use it as a learning tool to look up words and concepts and its meaning. More than anything, they were excited that they could use a computer on their own, and one that works! (many computers in our school are broken and don't work).

I want to humbly and sincerely thank you for all that you have done to help strengthen the foundation of education in our nation. The positive impact you have given to our students in our classrooms will create Ripples of greatness globally! My students will be forever grateful for your selflessness and positive social change to our school and the nation. We are forever grateful for your company's generosity!”

  • Basic School Supplies for School-work & Homework

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The impact has been great. Using their new supplies is a tremendous help that even the parents appreciated greatly. Many parents in the school are below the poverty line, and providing them with simple, but thoughtful materials to do their school work and their homework is wonderful.

Most of my students told me how grateful they were because they had no pencils, scissors or glue for doing some of the homework they have. I still have materials that I am distributing to my neediest students this year and they are also very grateful.

  • Using Google and Internet to Learn English and Science

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The impact has been enormous. Using goggle I can show images of processes difficult to explain to a student with little or no English. These images and videos and other visual aids has help my English Language Learners (ELLs) understand scientific process and concepts that they may not otherwise have understood without technology.

For my more advanced students learning English, goggle has helped them with research-base projects an also to use it as a learning tool to look up words and concepts and its meaning.

  • iPad Power for ELL!

    Funded May 6, 2014

How exciting it was to hear that News Corp and someone Anonymous cared enough about education to fund my DonorsChoose project. My ELL students and I were thrilled when the box arrived and we opened it up to find our new iPad. Immediately we started using a variety of language skills apps to support our learning. This iPad will be an invaluable teaching tool because I am able to differentiate instruction for all the learning styles that challenge me every day. Whether working independently or in small groups, my students now can read the words and hear them, too.

I cannot thank you enough for your support of Brooklyn teachers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sandoval de Moore

Our school is a Title I school in Brooklyn's East New York and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch. The student population is diverse and ever changing with a large Bengali and Hispanic population. My students come to Language Resource to learn how to speak, read and write English with the goal of transition within one school year. They come with a positive and respectful attitude and hard work ethic. Funds for technology to support my instruction goals are next to non-existent and I am looking for generous donors to help.
