  • Coding: Creatively Unlocking a Whole New World

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom project. Your donation has helped to improve our classroom and create a learning environment that excites children and makes them want to discover and build new projects.

My students have been working hard to learning coding on the computer and have begun using their Makey Makey devices to make their projects come to life. My youngest learners are so excited to build and design with the K'NEX blocks and the LEGOS! They enjoy working in teams and individually and then share about what they created.

The excitement from this project is still seen in my students even months after we started using the materials. They take responsibility for making sure things are treated with care and returned the way they received them!

Thank you for helping me foster a learning environment that sparks curiosity and creativity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nolan

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Apr 18, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for supporting my classroom students by helping to fund headphones. Allowing each individual student the opportunity to have headphones allows students to focus in on their assignments, limit distractions within the classroom and allow small groups to meet with teachers with fewer interruptions. Because of your generosity, my students are able to gain independence and work on tasks that are differentiated and appropriate for them even when other students are working on a different skill set. Thank you for helping our room to focus on what each individual learner needs in order to grow and achieve!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nolan

  • The Basics Provide a Strong Foundation

    Funded Jul 8, 2019

My students are loving our new classroom resources. The looks on their faces the moment our materials arrived was priceless! Each day our students use our new easel for many different tasks. We use it for morning meeting to fill in our daily message, we build our anchor charts to remind us of our learning together on it, and more importantly students use both sides of the easel to work together to solve math or reading projects. They love the large size of the easel and I love how it easily moves and folds up so that we can make the most of our classroom space.

This is the first year students get desks instead of tables and teaching organization is a huge part of the year. The pencil boxes provided from this project help my students organize their writing tools as well as their scissors and glue. They absolutely loved setting them up together and are very protective of their toolboxes.

When the boxes of teal cubbies finally arrived the children did not give me any choice but to open them right away. Together we set up our classroom library and labeled all of our new buckets. I love the ownership they have taken over the classroom library and how they can easily find books that interest them. With these buckets and new labels all of my classroom books are out and the children look forward to the day when they get to go to the library for book shopping.

These three big items as well as all of the little ones have set my classroom up so that they are not only ready to learn but are excited about it. My students move about the room with their toolboxes to learn, visit the library with great excitement, and love to help lead lessons at the easel. Because of your generous donation and with the help of these items, my students are excited and eager to learn. Thank you for helping me inspire children and provide a positive learning environment!”

  • Discovering New Possibilities with Technology

    Funded Jun 11, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Words cannot express how thankful I am for your kind and generous donations! The money you provided allowed the classroom to open up with five iPads to help encourage learning and support my students needs. There isn't a better feeling than knowing that you can provide supports that allow your students to feel successful.

My students are thrilled and constantly ask to use the iPads. They have a genuine curiosity about technology and want to gain skills that will help them use technology in their everyday lives. These iPad engage even my most challenging students! They have provided an outlet for students who struggle to write by allowing them to use iPads to communicate thoughts and ideas. Students have also been able to explore the world of coding and see the science behind developing video games. My students are using iPads to produce movie trailers to convince others to read a book that they love. In addition, the technology provides access to small group intervention materials to help students make progress in all content areas.

Your wonderful donation has allowed students who came into fourth grade dreading school to fall in love with learning. My most reluctant learners are the ones who cannot wait for their turn to use the iPad and explore a world of knowledge.

Thank you for helping me make fourth grade the very best year possible and for allowing me the opportunity to install a new love for learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nolan

  • Developing Success in Fourth Grade

    Funded Sep 2, 2014

Words cannot express how thankful I am for your kind donations to my classroom! The children were thrilled at the beginning of the year to be able to work together to build their homework binders. They were filled with excitement to receive so many supplies and they take pride in their binders. Many of the students were grateful for the supplies as they have limited supplies at home and often travel from one parent's home to another. These binders allowed my students to take responsibility for themselves and took away the stress of where to get materials. Constantly I hear my children say how lucky they are that they have these binders and how they must be special for so many people to want them to do well.

As a class, we use the binders daily. Each day the children are responsible for turning in the previous night's homework, record their new homework assignments in their planner, and gather all the materials they need. The folders allow the children to store their important notices, homework papers, and nightly reading book. In addition, we create charts to help the children at night with their homework. Currently there is a chart for multiplication facts and multiplication/division strategies for multi-digit numbers. They also have reading and writing charts to help them with assignments on topics such as character traits, theme, and proofreading/editing marks. Each month we check and evaluate our binders, replenish any supplies that are low, and determine if any new charts are needed.

I love having these binders and truly think that they have had a positive impact on my children. This year my class has a 95% nightly turn in rate on homework! It has never been this high. The children turn in neat work that hasn't been crumpled up at the bottom of their backpacks and take pride in using the highlighters to show where they found answers and evidence to support their thinking. Their nightly reading books are turned in with countless post it notes attached that have questions, connections, or important ideas that they want to remember written on them. One of the things I like the best about these binders is that the children are using them during class time. These binders have empowered my students to know where to go to find answers and are helping them to begin to problem solve on their own. I also love how the students use these binders to track their success. They want to do well and because of your kindness you have helped them to not only believe in themselves, but organize their work, take responsibility, and appreciate the supplies they have been given. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nolan

My school is in a high-needs city where many of my students are English Language Learners and have diverse needs. This year my classroom will have 25 children who come from various backgrounds, learning levels, and educational needs. Most of our students receive free or reduced lunch and often do not have the supplies they need to be successful. Our school believes in motivating students to produce responsible citizens. I believe that with the right materials, effective teaching, and high expectations each of my students will make successful growth this year.
