Carpet

We received our new carpet today. The students were so excited when it arrived. They could not wait to see what square they would be assigned for their new spot. They loved the bight colors and the different pictures. The squares help the students stay in their personal space. The carpet also provides a comfortable spot for the children to sit and read. They enjoy partner reading and are now able to stay in their personal space as they are reading. Without the carpet they were sitting very close to each other and they were not aware when they invaded each others personal space. We will continue to use the carpet as a comfortable place for us to read. Thank you again!”

My students are in the ASD NEST program. There is a mix of children that are general education and some children that are on the autism spectrum. They are each different but a main difficulty they encounter is socializing with peers. They stated how much they love to read, and enjoy reading with a partner. They also have a difficult time express themselves and understanding literature.
