• Crossing STEM and Literacy

  Funded May 21, 2023

  Thank you so much for funding our "Crossing STEM and Literacy" project on Donorschoose.org. We are so excited about the seeds, and will use these in our big hydroponic garden tower. The mirrors will be very helpful when we study our lips, teeth, and tongue and the various shapes that our mouth makes as we form letter sounds. We will talk about fricatives and glides, and the mirrors will add a hands-on/science approach. The rolling caddy is going to be wonderful in helping us to move our science materials around the classroom. The iPad case and screen protector will make our Mini iPad usable when doing our various science/literacy activities, especially around water and when moving around the room. We use our iPad to photograph our garden plants and will watch STEM videos about planting, climate, and other science topics. All of these items are going to be just wonderful and we appreciate your donation and match funding so much!”

• Let's Explore the Environment at the National Parks!

  Thank you so much for donating to our "Let's Explore the Environment at the National Parks!" project on Donorschoose.org. My goodness, what a wonderful surprise to see yet another book project funded for my students! My students appreciate surprises so much, and they just love all of the great National Park books! When they first opened the package, they all yelled WOW at the sight of the big atlas book! They had never seen one like this before, and we immediately started looking at all of the wonderful maps of the parks! The National Geographic book is beautiful! We are so happy to have that to look at! The kids are already having a ball reading all of the National Park mystery books and then looking them up in both of the reference books, which is exactly what I was hoping would happen. They are now reading for fun outside of my intervention classroom, and that is so important. Thank you so much for gifting these to our class. They will be around for many years of enjoyment! Quite honestly, I hope you know what a HUGE impact you have had on my students with your recent donations. I have kids that never read big books before, who have now read 14 Junie B. Jones chapter books in 2 months! They are all just as excited about these National Park Mystery books! This is truly making a difference and I LOVE it! • Help Us Sprout Our Plants and Our Learning!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Help Us Sprout Our Plants and Our Learning!" on Donorschoose.org. We were so excited to get our package full of goodies in the mail! The students had so much fun opening it up to see what was inside! Oh my goodness, it is just wonderful to have the sweeper. Our hydroponic garden is large and we are frequently pruning, eating and touching the plants. Dried leaves frequently fall on the floor, and we sure don't to make our amazing custodian have to clean it up every night. Now, we are able to clean up after ourselves. The kitchen scissors/pruner is wonderful. We can get in nice and close and take good care of our plants. We can also snip yummy herbs and lettuce to eat! The seed boxes are wonderful for storing our seeds, so they are all ready to plant. The rooting hormone is great because we can learn about and take cuttings and clippings and then grow new plants. The stopwatches are wonderful because we use them to time ourselves reading science words. Every single one of these items is so useful, and we really appreciate your support. Thank you so much!”

• Let's Play Chipper Chat!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Let's Play Chipper Chat!" project on Donorschoose.org! Oh my goodness, we got this package in the mail two days after it was funded, and my kids were so excited! They couldn't wait to open the box! The Chipper Chat game is even better than what I hoped for. It literally touches on every single skill that I work on for phonological awareness with my students, and it is so fun and exciting for them! Phonological awareness is a very difficult concept for so many of my students, and having a new, fun way to learn is so exciting for them! My kindergarten and first-grade students can't wait to get in their seats around the table to see which activity we are going to do from the game each day. They get to decode, encode, rhyme, clap syllables and so much more! My older students love the game as well, because it is geared toward all age levels. It is perfect for helping them to understand those very necessary concepts. I also really appreciate the envelopes and binder clips, which were definitely needed. Thank you so much for your anonymous donation. It is such a treat to see something that you want for your students, so badly, actually make it into our classroom for them to learn with. You have definitely made an important impact and are truly helping my students to learn skills that will help them for the rest of their lives! I appreciate your support so much!”

• Amazing Books for Wonderful Kids!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Amazing Books for Wonderful Kids!" project on Donorschoose.org! Your note about being Kindred Readers was one of my favorites. I think about that every time that I pick up one of these books. My students are so thrilled with all of these wonderful books from you! They seriously, can not wait for their time to come into my room to start reading their favorite book! My first and second-grade students were so excited to see the whole set of Henry and Mudge books! They couldn't wait to get that package open and dive right in! The Sophia books are very special for one of my students whose family speaks spanish at home. She read the first book in one night, and came right back for more! And, another chose the Gifted Hands book right away. I mentioned in my other project note that this student wants to be a doctor some day. I was able to tell her the whole story about how I know him and about how you love to read this book too! Thank goodness for his "Gifted Hands." It is so special to be able to share a connection like that. I just really want you to know how much we appreciate your very generous gift. My students are so excited about reading right now! They come in, and buzz right around to find "their" favorite book, then sit right down and start reading. One of my little girls, who could not find a chapter book that was at her level, is now on her 13th book! Think about how special that is! She did not read before, and is now on her 13th book! It makes my heart so happy! You helped to give her that opportunity! Thank you so much for your wonderful support! We really appreciate it! What wonderful gifts these books are!”

• Winnie the Pooh and Black Beauty Too! Let's Read!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Winnie the Pooh and Black Beauty Too! Let's Read!" project on Donorschoose.org! These books are a hit for sure! Oh my goodness, every single student that comes into my room, now has a book claimed, with their very own bookmark inside. They literally race into my room each day and ask if they can read their books! What a wonderful impact these books have had on my students, and I thank you so much for making this happen. Reading does not always come easy to my students, but it certainly is exciting for them now! As, soon as they know that I am working one-on-one with someone, they cheer, because they know that they get some free time to read their new books! Many of the books have multiple bookmarks in them because there are several kids reading each one. It is so much fun to watch them dive into reading, and that is exactly what I wanted to accomplish with these wonderful titles! You should see how beautiful The Little House on the Prairie set is. Several of my students went right for those! How exciting! I am also rereading the set myself because they are so special that they just call out, READ ME! It is so much fun to share the stories with them, and then to share my experiences as a little girl reading the same books. Another student went right for Black Beauty! She commented over and over again about how she loved the cover of the book and even said, it is so special, it is so beautiful, and, this was a fifth-grader who just couldn't wait to read! Amelia Bedelia is such a hit with my younger students! And, of course, another of my students went right for The Ben Carson book. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up. It is absolutely wonderful to have books for all different reading levels, so everyone can feel successful! I am so excited to see how much my students are just devouring every single one! What a great purchase! Thank you so much for helping us to get these into our classroom! What a special, special, special gift!”

• Fabulous, Fantastic, Fun Books for Phenomenal Kids!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Fabulous, Fantastic, Fun Books for Phenomenal Kids!" project on Donorschoose.org! My kids are soooo excited about these books! They can't wait to come to my room everyday to grab their book and start reading. As, soon as they know that I am working one-on-one with someone, they cheer, because they know that they get some free time to read their new books! Many of the books have multiple bookmarks in them because there are several kids reading each one. It is so much fun to watch them dive into reading, and that is exactly what I wanted to accomplish with these wonderful books! The Ultimate Stink-tastic books are new titles for them, and they are having a ball reading them! They would have to, with a name like, that! Right? Junie B. Jones is such a hit with so many of my kids. One of my students is now on book number 13 of these books, and this particular child did not read before because she could not find a good fit book! That alone was worth every penny of this project! She can't stop reading, and loves it!!!!! I get to see such a huge smile every day as she tells me all about her book! And, Eerie Elementary books are so exciting for my adventure seekers! I am so excited to see how much my students are just devouring these books! What a great purchase!   Thank you so much for funding our "The Best Books in the World!" project on Donorchoose.org. I am so excited to have these wonderful books for my students! Oh my goodness, when they saw the packages of books, they were so excited to dive right in. I gave every student a post it note with their name, and they were off to choose their favorite book immediately! Every child was able to find a book that they loved, and there were plenty of books for everyone, at every ability level. What a great gift this was to our classroom and to my students. These books will definitely impact my students' reading a abilities in a very large way. I am so excited to see them fall in love with book series, and to want more and more and more. The colorful file folders will be wonderful. They will be able to store their writing and creative activities in their very own folders. The labeler and labeling tape will be wonderful. There are so many things in our classroom that this will be helpful with. They will be able to label their folders, our books, our totes and so much more! The colorful pencils are also fantastic! • Twist Your Tongue and Rhyme Around!

  Thank you so much for funding our "Twist Your Tongue and Rhyme Around!" project on Donorschoose.org! My students were so excited to receive these books, gel pens and pencils in the mail! I work with many different kids during the day, and they were ALL just thrilled!

  They are crazy about the tongue twister books, just like I was when I was a little girl. They can't wait to get in here, each day, and immediately make a beeline for those books. How fun! The pencils are wonderful! There are so many in the packs and we will have a lot of fun writing with them! I love how colorful they are! The pens are also nice and colorful and add a new excitement to our writing. And, the Dr. Seuss books are my all-time favorite! The kids love them because they are so much fun to read. I love them because they are absolutely full of sight words and rhyming words, which gives my students tons of "fun" practice in the areas that they need most! Thank you so much for supporting our class with so many wonderful goodies! We really appreciate it. I will make sure that they they get plenty of use, and I can already see that my students are loving everything that came in those packages! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
