  • Gardening and Craft Distance Learning Packets for My First-Grade Students!

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for funding our "Gardening and Craft Distance Learning Packets for My First-Grade Students!" project on Donorschoose.org. My students were so excited to get these learning materials! We do weekly packets and each item that they got had a special learning activity to go with it, and the kids really got into it! Look at the adorable pictures. One student and his family even constructed an entire garden to plant his Forget Me Not flowers and sunflower seeds! They all keep sending me pictures, and notes, and it is so much fun to see what they have done. They are painting like crazy with the watercolor paints, and the animals that they are making with the dough are just precious! They are also writing adorable stories to go with the animals. The pinwheels were a great art project, and boy were they a hit! My students are having so much fun learning with the goodies that you provided. They are very appreciative, you have made learning lots of fun! Thank you so much for your support!”

  • Reading Books, PDF's and Supplies For Students Who Struggle!

    Funded Mar 23, 2020

Thank you so much for funding our "Reading Books, PDF's and Supplies For Students Who Struggle!" project on Donorschoose.org. I am so excited to have these new learning materials for my students! I was recently trained in Orton-Gillingham Methodologies and after seeing this work so well for my students, I found a couple teaching materials that would really help and support my students' learning. These hands-on controlled phonics readers, and the online readers will be absolutely wonderful for my students! The weighted sand is such a good multi-sensory learning tool, and I am so excited to have this in a new color. The spelling book will also be very helpful in planning good quality lessons for my students. I really appreciate having these supplies and books for my students. Using Orton-Gillingham with my students has really helped, not only with my students who struggle, but also with my students who are making great progress in reading. Being able to help students who have not been able to get the help they need with other programs and seeing them succeed and fall in love with reading is such a wonderful thing to see happening. I really appreciate your support! Having this project funded truly makes a difference for my students. Thank you!”

  • One Fish, Two Fish, Help Us With Our Book Wish!

    Funded Mar 3, 2020

Thank you so much for funding our "One Fish, Two Fish, Help Us With Our Book Wish!" project on Donorschoose.org. What a nice surprise to log on and see our project completely funded! The books were in my students' hands 5 days later, and you should have seen the excitement in our classroom! I had them lift the package and guess what was in side. They immediately yelled, "I hope they are books!" When I opened that package and pulled out one book title at a time, and started handing them out, they were literally screaming with delight! My kids absolutely love Dr. Seuss books and these are absolutely fantastic! They sounded like little bumble bees in a busy hive reading their Ten Apples Up on Top books, The Foot Book, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. The Cat in the Hat, Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and Are You my Mother? books! They just devoured them, and there was a book for every single student! We used the Horton Hatches the Egg book to learn about the short vowel e and called Horton Ed because of the short e. They loved it! I am so thankful for the support that you gave to our class! These books will get so much use over the years. My students take wonderful care of their learning materials and these are no exception! Thank you so much for donating to such a special purchase for my students! These books are amazing when it comes to teaching children how to read, and they will truly make a huge difference!”

  • I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham! Reading Fun!

    Funded Feb 26, 2020

Thank you so much for funding our "I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham! Reading Fun!" project on Donorschoose. org! My students just love to read books, and Green Eggs and Ham is one of their absolute favorites! I had a couple of copies in my room, but my students were begging me to get them more. There just weren't enough to go around. You should have seen their faces when we opened up the box FULL of Green Eggs and Ham books! They were so excited that they literally jumped up and down and screamed!

You should have seen just how excited they were! It was so much fun! I handed the books out one by one, and it truly sounded like someone stepped on a beehive full of bees in my classroom as they all started reading the books! They were so into reading them, that I think they totally forgot there was even a world going on around them. It was so cute! They really, really love those books! You should have seen their huge smiles! No more waiting for the other person to finish the book that they want so badly, only for me to say, I'm sorry, reading time is over now. They can all read this book at the same time! And, we even get to read them together out loud as a class, which is super fun, because we all get to read with really silly voices!!!! My students have been using these books a LOT in the last week already! They are absolutely thrilled!

I LOVE these books because, from a teaching standpoint, the controlled vocabulary is so good and strong! Students always grow as readers like crazy, the more they read these and other Dr. Seuss books that are right at this level! It is wonderful to see their confidence soar, and their love for reading grow and grow! I am so excited to be able to use these over and over again with my students! This was an absolutely WONDERFUL purchase, and it will definitely benefit every single one of my kids in a huge way! So, thank you again for being so kind and absolutely generous! It is so special that these came from parents and families and people right here in our area! We sure appreciate you, not just because you got us these amazing books, but because you also support us with your kind words, and caring personalities and HUGE inspiration!!!! Thank you again! The kids truly love these and so do I!!!”

  • Fantastic First-Graders Creatively Crafting Their Artistic Dreams!

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for funding our ""Fantastic First-Graders Creatively Crafting Their Artistic Dreams!" project on Donorschoose.org! What a neat surprise to see this funded by people that I love so much. I couldn't believe it when I looked and saw that you did this for us.

We just got all of the packages, and are they ever exciting! They were packed full of neat, neat things like buttons, beads, feathers, paints, pens and other cool goodies! They are exactly what I was hoping for. My little students will be able to create using all of these wonderful hands-on art materials and supplies. And, they are going to have a ball in so many different and fun ways!

Every single item has a purpose and will work perfectly for the activity that they go with. They will use the feathers to trace letters and create bird art projects. They will use the stickers to create zoo scenery and to make Valentine letters with hearts. They will use sewing needles and beads to make bracelets and fancy designs. We love shells, and they will be used to make artistic letter shapes and beach scenes.

The rice is for doing rice art, which is a lot like sand art, and for tracing letters and words for phonics practice. The gel pens and paints will be for making all kinds of creative pictures, notes, letters and thank you notes, and the storage containers will be to store their art supplies neatly so that they will last and last for a long time. We got so many neat things! And the kids are really excited!

We seriously can't wait to get started! I can't thank you enough, and we really appreciate your super, kind gift! My students will have a ball crafting and creating all kinds of art projects, in a multi-sensory way, and they can't wait to get started! Thank you so much! You guys are the best!”

Thank you so much for funding our "Crafting Fun For My Artistic Learners!" project on Donorschoose.org! It is so exciting to get this project funded. We are going to just love using our Cricut Explore Air 2 machine!

The Starter Bundle, vinyl sheets, and roll of adhesive backed vinyl will be great for making stickers, class shirts and other goodies, and we will get to make some really neat things. We also got cutting boards and transfer tape so we can make some really neat things, and maybe even t-shirts! My students will have a ball creating stickers for their notebooks and folders, for their Reader's Workshop notebooks and projects, and for their poetry folders.

They will be able to create all kinds of fun stickers that are related to what we read, like bugs for our insect unit! • Brilliant Basics for Superb, Special Students!

    Funded Jan 16, 2020

Thank you so much for funding our "Brilliant Basics for Superb, Special Students!" project on DonorsChoose.org! These learning materials are awesome, and what a nice surprise to see so many of my favorite people going out of their way to fund this project! Thank you all so much for your support. That means the world to me! Truly! Your kindness makes me absolutely love my career and motivates me so much in my teaching. The kids get so excited when these packages come in! We always head over to the reading corner and sing, "We just got some packages!" Their excitement is just like Christmas, and it is a lot of fun! They really get excited when they hear who the project is from and they know the names of the people, and at least a couple of my students knew every single one of you, which was really fun!

We already got all of our packages in the mail, and we started using them in our classroom! Our file organizer is working great for organizing all of our important papers! And, the organizer tote is also just perfect for holding all of our different learning tools like red and green crayons, vowel sticks, pencils, highlighters and markers, our stopwatch, mirrors (to look at how we make sounds with our mouth, erasers, word cards, books and other goodies. Everything fits so nicely. Already this week, it has made teaching and learning so much more fun and efficient, because everything is right there and available to grab quickly. I am thrilled about this! The kids had a ball using their paper punches, glue and glue sticks during our lessons and for crafting! They made a lot of special things this week and really got creative. It is also really fun to have the nice new, giant pack of stinky stickers! My stash was really getting low and these smell really good because they are nice and new! The kids are super excited about doing things to earn stickers! You should see how many 100's we got on our spelling tests this week, just because they wanted stickers! How fun!

I just hope that you all realize how appreciative I am of you doing this for our class! These kids are so much fun, and they really appreciate everything. They have so much fun learning and get excited about every little thing. I have a so much fun teaching them! Thank you again for your support!”

  • Brilliant Basics for Special Students!

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Thank you so much for funding our "Brilliant Basics for Special Students!" project on DonorsChoose.org! We got all of our packages and today the kids got to open them and see everything inside! Wow! What a nice bunch of boxes full of classroom goodies! The kids were soooooo excited! These items were definitely needed, and they are very, very, very much appreciated! We requested rubber bands, glue, glue sticks, masking tape, wiggly eyes, pencils, erasers, stamp pads, a calculator, sticky notes, paper, stickers, hole punches, book rings and other learning basics, and these will all be wonderful to have and will truly make a difference in my students' learning.

As you can see, these are things that we really need tin order to run our classroom effectively. And, they will make learning a LOT of fun!

We will use the glue and glue sticks to make dot letters for tactile learning. We will use the poster paper, hole punches, and book rings to make our red word flashcards. the masking tape, rubber bands and wiggle eyes will be great for our New Letter and New Concept projects. Doing these special projects really helps to lock in learning for these little kiddos who struggle with dyslexia and other learning struggles. The pencils, erasers and sticky notes are for doing all of our dictation and new word/sentence work and for phoneme/grapheme work. The stamp pads and stickers are so that I can reward my little ones for their hard work and effort! They will just love the stickers! I was desperately in need of some nice, new ones.

I just want you to know how very much we appreciate all of these wonderful learning materials! it is really exciting to have the new supplies that we need so badly! Thank you so much!”

  • We Need Classroom Basics for Little Students Who Struggle!

    Funded Dec 25, 2019

Thank you so much for funding our "We Need Classroom Basics for Little Students Who Struggle!" project on DonorsChoose.org. We got all of our packages and the kids were so excited to see the new pencil sharpener, the highlighter markers, the stickers, and the dry-erase board erasers! These were all big needs for our class. We are absolutely thrilled to have a new pencil sharpener that actually works. This one has a 10 year warranty, and I know that other teachers have had huge success with theirs. With first-graders it is so important to have one that works well, so we really appreciate this. As soon as I opened the highlighters, the kids yelled, they are such pretty colors! We have been using the same 2 yellow markers since the beginning of the year, and now all of the students can use these nice, bright and colorful markers as the same time! The dry-erase, erasers will be so nice to have. The kids were thrilled that we finally get to throw out our old sock erasers! Yippee!!! they were literally old, marker covered tube socks, so this is much nicer. The stickers are just awesome! The kids will love being able to scratch and sniff their way to super, papers! Thank you so much for your support of our classroom. My first-graders are very appreciative, little sweethearts, and they just love these new classroom basics! We appreciate your help very much!”

  • Scanning Our Creative Work to Share With Others!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so much for funding our "Scanning Our Creative Work to Share With Others!" project on Donorschoose.org. My students love to share out artwork, creative writing, drawings, and other fun treats! Right now, sharing out means grabbing a big roll of masking tape and taping projects to the wall. I want my students to be able to scan their very special projects, in color, to share out with their families, grandparents and other special people, and now they will be able to do this using the scanner that you helped us to get. Sharing stories with other students in the class, and on the SMARTBoard will also be useful for students to be able to make class corrections and to do peer editing, and it will be a lot of fun! My students can scan in stories so that we can read them in front of the class, and better yet, they can scan their colored drawings, sketches and diagrams. A perfect example is when we do our Life Cycle of a plant or animal project. The students work so hard to create colored diagrams of their animal or plant and its body parts with labels. Then they present the diagrams along with a lot of other pieces of the project. Being able to scan in the diagrams and other parts of the project, in color, will make their presentations so much better. My students usually present these projects to their grandparents on Grandparent Day, so this will be great! Thank you so much for your support! We really appreciate it and promise to get very good use out of this scanner!”
