My students attend a Kindergarten-5th grade elementary school in South Carolina. Our classroom size ranges between 20-29 students. Within each classroom, we use a balanced literacy approach that encourages much independent reading. This is a time that is a struggle for many students. They are not engaged during this time with traditional books. We have many avid readers, but there are still so many who are reluctant to take that leap into reading. This opportunity could be the chance to change that!
