Help Our Students Make Their Own Books!
Funded Feb 8, 2024Tomorrow will be such a big day for our class! They will be so excited for this surprise!! You hBe made such a difference for the students in my class. My students give it their all every day and cannot wait to see their books published. Thank you for making their dreams come true! We will also be able to make color copies of their word walls. This is so important because the words are different colors due to the word “rule”. It makes all the difference to have their work in color!! Work will be posted in our thank you package!”

Virtual Learners Need to See Inside Our Classroom Easily!
Funded Sep 24, 2020The desk we received has made such a difference for our kiddos! We are able to move around the class easily with all of our supplies, and seamlessly connect the virtual and in-person students. Our students take turns coming into school and on their days at home they are able to see the classroom with whatever devices they have. Our special needs students sometimes have difficulty understanding the lesson which is expected as this is a very different way of learning and they don't always have the supplies they need in front of them. This desk on wheels not only helps the teachers stand up straight due to its height (which saves our backs), it helps one of us to quickly zoom the laptop right out of the classroom, go onto a google meet with that individual child who is struggling either emotionally or academically and help. The fact that we don't have to stop and grab all the manipulatives and supplies we would need for each lesson is priceless to our students. Not all classrooms have opted to have virtual and in-person students. We feel that having the ability to reach these kids quickly and then bring them right back to the lesson is so helpful. No more stopping and gathering materials and running outside to find a desk (or a water fountain) to sit and assist a 5-year-old on a google meet, we are in and out quickly. Plus we are the talk of the town!!!”

Calm and Cozy Book Nook!!
Funded Mar 26, 2019Thank you so much for what you have done for our classroom. The children now have a quiet calm space to read and write. The lights and the book bins make our reading area so welcoming for the children. They children feel as if they are in a safe relaxed atmosphere just like home. The children were so thrilled when they saw the new library. They were thrilled to replace their old broken bins with the new wood bins. It really changes the way a child thinks about reading when they feel good about the environment they are in. It just changes the whole feel of the reading area. While the children do their work we play calming music and all these steps together have created a whole new world for them. Thank you for changing our little world of 110-D.
Sincerely Mrs. DeGrado and Mrs. Battino”

We Are Ready To Write!!! Help Us Succeed
Funded Sep 16, 2014The children are so excited about our new writing center!! They now have all their papers organized for them so they can start work quickly and efficiently. The children are learning how to choose a certain paper for many different kinds of writing pieces. It is very helpful to have everything organized and ready to go in the morning for the children. The kids love to sit there and be "super writers" wearing a cape when they do a super job!! You wouldn't believe the difference organization makes in the eyes of a child who needs it. As you know we are mainstreamed into a general education class now and some of the children on the autism spectrum are rely heavily on routine. So things in the same place consistently is very important. I can't thank you enough for what you have done for our class.”

iPad Center
Funded Oct 25, 2013As you know you have made a world of difference in our classroom in more ways than you will ever know. These kids may have never touched an ipad if it wasn't for you. The children talk about you and your family as if they know all of you. You are a daily topic in our classroom. I always tell them how "proud Mr. Hittman would be" of them. I have downloaded a whole bunch of free apps for the children and paid for a few that I have researched and found to be wonderful for the children's phonics and decoding difficulties. The class can't wait to read on the ipad. Each morning the children come into the classroom and rush over the the ipad schedule to see if there name is on it for morning routine time. You should see their faces when they see their name!!
I know I could never say thank you enough but I will try. You gave selflessly to these children that you never met and they are honestly the sweetest bunch of children I have had in a long time. They care for one another and have huge hearts. If one of them is upset because it isn't their day to go to the ipad you can bet another child will say "Come!! Sit with me we can share!" They can count higher than ever because of the counting apps and some can now count to 100 by 5's and 10's. That's huge!! Thank you for giving. I hope someday I can pay it forward.”

Protect Our Donation!
Funded Oct 22, 2013Thank you so much for sending us the case to protect our ipad mini and for the headphones as well. The children are so excited every morning and can now sit quietly and still use the sound without disrupting the other groups. I don't have to worry now if the children pick up the ipad and walk it to their desk and I also can ask them to look something up with no worries because it is protected so well. You wouldn't believe how far they have come using the phonics programs daily and they are so thrilled to be independent enough to plug the headsets in each morning and set up the ipad center.
Each day a different group is sent to the ipads and quickly turns on the game that they are asked to work on. Once they put the headset on you can tell right away they are learning and excited to complete the task asked of them. They are all reading books on the app BOB books. I have the real books and they get frustrated but with the ipad and headset it is as if they cant fail!! Nobody is watching or hearing but them so they don't feel embarrassed if they make a mistake. You can't imagine the difference you have made on these children's lives. It's not something that you've done for a day. It made a difference forever. You have given them the jumpstart they need. Thank you again Mr. Hitman.”

Oh the Places We'll Go!
Funded Jul 28, 2013Our class is so grateful for the ipad you all helped fund! The children are so motivated now and excited to earn ipad time. I have sat with them and showed them how we are extra careful and use it appropriately. The kids are able to play phonics and simple addition and subtraction games. They can work with a partner or work alone. Sometimes I pair 2 children up who don't often and all of a sudden they are laughing and playing nicely. It has really transformed our room. We also use it as behavior modification often. Sometimes everyone is distracted or tired and all I have to do is say "I'm looking to see who is going to earn ipad time...." and all of a sudden the whole class is sitting up and raising their hands. I am so thankful for all you have done for us.”
