  • Rapid Prototyping With 3D Printers And Laser Cutters

    Funded Sep 30, 2024

Thank you so much for funding these prototyping materials. My students will be using these to design various systems for their robots. Having these materials available will help them quickly test and improve their designs to be ready to compete in a few months. That process will be key to their success this season.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Miranda

  • Engineering Notebooks for Physics and Robotics

    Funded Aug 19, 2019

Thank you for the continuing to support my students. My students will appreciate being provided with the notebooks they need to document their work and compete in events this year. I am excited to start the year in one week and this takes one task off my list of things to get done before then.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Miranda

  • 3D Printing for Robotics

    Funded Mar 28, 2019

Thank you to all of the previous donors who have supported my classroom and the robotics team. My students are excited to have the materials needed to continue designing and printing prototypes and solutions for their projects in class and systems for our robots. With this filament, they won't have to worry about how much material their prints will use.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Miranda

  • Arduino Cars for Computer Science

    Funded Jan 22, 2015

Since this project was funded, my students have used Arduino and car kits in a variety of classes, including AP Computer Science, Robotics 1, and on our FIRST Robotics team as a training program for new students.

Arduino makes an excellent platform for cost-effective robotics systems, allowing students easy access to basic programming and wiring concepts. It has allowed for students to learn basic programming and algorithm principals, while providing the opportunity for advanced students to dig deeper and create more complex programs.

Students were excited to work on these projects because it was something concrete where they could see the effect of their programming instead of just seeing output on the screen. The projects kept students engaged and created interest in learning more advanced topics.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Miranda

  • AP Computer Science

    Funded Dec 21, 2013

Thank you so much for you generous donation. This project will help prepare my students for the AP exam in May and for taking computer science courses in college.

It has been very difficult for me to have students work together and see other students' work without the time consuming process of emailing files and setting them up on the classroom computer. This will allow my students to write code with the class and even pass the tablet along to other students when they get stuck or need help, turning the learning process into a truly collaborative experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Miranda

We are a very diverse urban district with many motivated students. A large percentage of my students have begun to develop an interest in pursuing careers in STEM and this class will hopefully continue to push more in that direction. Most of my students have never taken a programming course before and for many of them this is the first AP class they will take.
