I teach in a Title 1 school that serves a high percentage of special needs students. Our special needs students are a diverse population whose disabilities range from AD/HD to multiple disabilities and/or health impairments. Most of my students are at or below the poverty level and do not have access to technology resources at home. Our students are behind several, academically grade-levels from most of their peers. Some students have a huge deficit in reading, writing, and mathematics to overcome. Many lack early educational resources and materials in their homes due to their parent's economic situation. In order to close the academic gap, it is essential to provide these students with educational tools and resources which can facilitate the academic improvement of these students.
