Empowering Students Through Art with IPads and Art Supplies!
Funded May 21, 2016We love our class iPad! Today we used it to look up pigs. We are reading a story about a fantasy pig that eats too much and gets sick! The class wanted to see a pig. So I get the iPad out and we look one up! It was so much easier than having to use the big computer!
We also used our new markers to color this pig! I plan on using this iPad with each new story. We will use it to look up any information needed for our story. I plan on teaching the children how to use the different search engines to find out the information.
We also have used the iPad to enrich our math and spelling programs. I have downloaded several apps - that give them practice on adding, subtracting and spelling. I love the size of the iPad and how it fits so well in their little hands! Thanks so much for helping fund this project!”

Funded Jul 30, 2016We are loving our journals! We use them daily to write about different things that are happening in the classroom, or just writing anything they would like to write! Today we used them to describe the weather, write down a day of the week(learning that days of the week begin with a capital letter) and also to write and show what tally marks are- ( that was our new learning today)!
It was just like Christmas when I opened up the packages! They were so excited to get their very own journal! They take such good care of these journals- they know they will get to keep them and take them home at the end of the year! They really love it when they get to use the pretty twist up crayons to draw and go over their writings! It makes their work so pretty!
After we get the hang of writing in these journals with the prompts I give them- they will be able to decide what they want to write! We will start free writing after Christmas! By then they will have down sentence writing and capitalization! I just want to thank you so much for helping my class!”

If You Give A First Grader Paints And Markers!
Funded Apr 15, 2013Thank you so much for the art supplies for my classroom. It has brought such joy and excitement to my room. It is just like Christmas when I get out supplies! You should hear them talking about our glitter paint! They say it makes their work look so awesome!! They are so proud when we display their artwork in our frames. People walk by and admire their work and comment on how beautiful it looks on the wall! The students just stand back and smile!
We also used our paint, markers, and drawing paper to make and decorate Grandparent's cards. They loved doing this activity because we had all the supplies needed to make the card special. We have also used our easel to complete individual art pieces! I let the students choose what materails they use and also what they create! You should see what wonderful creations they have come up with! Like I said if you give a 1st grader paints and markers the possiblities are endless on the things that they can create!
We love our all color dry erase markers-we practice our spelling words and math problems daily on our white boards! It makes learning fun! We use our roll on painters and tag board to create learning posters to display out in the hall! It makes them so eye-catching! We love using our twist up markers to illustrate our sentences we write! We also like to use our markers when we write our spelling words rainbow style! I just want to thank you again for bringing art and colors back into our classroom! It has made a big difference in my class!”
