This furniture will provide the students a cozy and comfortable reading area. It is a dark blue that will cover creativity marks, and it is an easy clean material. The couch and chair will be a perfect fit in our classroom and we have a spot designed just for it. It will also be used for peer discussions and student sharing. It will allow for more flexibility and will improve the classroom environment,
which is imperative for my transitional first grade class.
Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and help them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. This will help my sensory seeking students be even more successful. The research says they can. According to Dr. Sheryl Reinisch, director of Early Childhood Education Programs at Concordia University – Portland, studies indicate that high-quality classroom environments “help children feel safe, secure, and valued. As a result, self-esteem increases and students are motivated to engage in the learning process.”
