My students are a group of 16 2nd graders who come from a low income housing project in an urban city. They attend a "neighborhood school" located in the center of the project. They are diverse in their academic abilities, ranging from pre-K to 4th grade. Differentiating their instruction has always been a challenge to me and often some children end up being bored, while others are totally confused when lessons are implemented. By having an iPad in the classroom, the students would be able to work on apps. that reinforce the topics being taught, but at their own level. Because the majority of my class spends their time at home in front of the TV set playing video games, I feel that using "games" as a way to help them master concepts is a very logical choice.
