My students live a rural community in the rolling hills of the Ozarks of Missouri. We see a lot of mobile homes, trucks, and some do not have running water in their homes. However, my kids are vivacious and full of life. Their imaginations go wild when new ideas are presented to them. Right now, all we have is magazines and old books. They dress in clothing from Wal-Mart and hand-me downs. Prom is recycled gowns from sisters and cousins. However, my kids don't complain about being poor or left out of events. Some have never been to the closest major city which is only one and a half hour away. With these tablets, we can begin to open their eyes, to see new possibilities. They can see their dreams realized with effort and work on their part.
