Tablets for Kindergarten Centers!
Funded Sep 29, 2014I first want to start off saying thank you so much! My kids were so excited to have tablets in our classroom. I started off by telling them that you all were so gracious to donate to our classroom, and they were so surprised, that I had not bought them, but people (some we do not even know), bought these tablets for them! I even had parents come in during conferences and ask me what kind of sight word apps we were using on the tablets because the students would go home and tell them how much they loved using them, and the parents could see an improvement on their sight words knowledge.
My students use the tablets (covers, and headphones) daily in our center rotation for reading, to practice letter identification, and letters sounds, as well as sight words. The students also use the tablets 2 times a week during math centers. The tablets really have boosted students interest and engagement in the things that we learn each and every day. The students always have a huge smile, and I hear a "yes!" when they know it is their turn to use one of the tablets.
The majority of my students now know almost all of their letters and sounds, and have grown so much in the number of sight words they have learned. I know that this is in part to the tablet time that they have, because they are so excited to "play" and learn at the same time. I can not thank each and every one of you enough, and please know the impact that you have had on the inner-city children in my classroom. The thanks does not just come from me, but from them (and I can tell you I see that thanks everyday, when they are learning, and loving having these tablets in our classroom).”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Marshall
