Phonics is FUN!!!!
Funded Oct 24, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students are having so much fun using the phonics stamps, word puzzles, and magnetic letters! We are using each one of them as a station, and those stations have become the most popular ones in the room! It is especially fun for me to watch my struggling students using them. The resources you provided have given them a new opportunity to be engaged in activities that help them practice skills that are very difficult for them. But, now they are so excited about stamping, doing puzzles, and building words, that they are eager to practice their phonics skills, rather than being reluctant about it! I no longer have to prod them to practice! They actually WANT to practice! Your donation has made an amazing impact on my classroom and will continue to do so for years to come! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Daily Dry Erase Dream
Funded Feb 11, 2010Thank you SO much for your generous donation! My students have been having so much fun using the dry erase markers and erasers that your donation provided. We use them every day! My students use them to practice sight words all the time, and we use them for word building lessons, math lessons, and games throughout our day. They get so excited about actually getting to choose the color of marker they are going to use when it's time to get them out. Before, we only had a few dry erase markers. There really was no choice. Then they all got dried out, and we had none. For a long time, the white boards just sat and collected dust. It is so nice to see my students actually getting to use the white boards again! The white board cleaner has been invaluable as well. No more dingy white boards in my classroom!
Thank you again! You have definitely made a difference in my classroom!”

Letters! Letters! We Don't Have 'em, But We Need 'em!!
Funded Dec 2, 2009I can not thank you enough for your generous donation to my classroom! My students have been so excited about using our new magnetic letters! They have had so much fun using them at different times of the day for all kinds of activities. The new magnetic letters have been a wonderful addition to our literacy program!
They have gotten to use them in the mornings when they are arriving. During this time, we do our literacy stations. A class favorite is Word Work. This is where theses new letters have been the most useful. They use our new letters to spell words from the word wall, words with common spelling patterns, classmates' names, and familiar words. And, as you can see in some of the pictures I posted, they have figured out that they can spell words on the backs of their chairs since the letters are magnetic! They have really enjoyed trying to find surfaces in the classroom where they can "stick" their letters to make words.
They have also gotten to use the new letters during our phonics lessons. During this time, we make words with common spelling patterns in a whole-group setting. We use the blue and red magnetic letters for this activity, as we are drawing lots of attention to the difference between vowels and consonants, as well as vowel patterns. Getting the privilege of using the magnetic letters during this time has become very coveted! It really brings our phonics lessons to life!
Learning to spell words is such an important part of 1st grade. We use words all day, in every lesson, in every subject. Having these new magnetic letters has added a wonderful new dimension to our word work. The bright, colorful letters help to make learning fun for my students! Thank you again for helping to bring these materials to my classroom!”
