Books for Our School's Art Room!

My students have thoroughly enjoyed the books purchased for our art room! Every time a student finishes early with a project their first response is "Can I read a book?" The books are an amazing addition to our art room library. This summer I plan on creating lesson plans that integrate each book for every grade level.
This will allow for some great art projects but also shows the importance of integrating art into other subject areas. The students love seeing famous artwork in the books and they always try to find art in the classroom that matches or is similar to the art in the books. You have been a wonderful, amazing blessing to my classroom and we are forever thankful for the love and generosity you have shared with us!”

My school is comprised of minority students who come from families who suffer from poverty and live in an environment with high crime. There is a low emphasis on academic achievement. A high amount of efforts have been made to create a safe environment and a thriving school. My school is full of extremely talented students who enjoy and love art and art has had a positive impact on them academically. In spite of the surrounding neighborhood and personal challenges, my students are learning and expressing themselves in great ways through art and writing. Currently our school is in the process of transforming from a low-performing school into a 90-90-90 school. A 90-90-90 school has at least 90 percent minority students, 90 percent low-income students, and 90 percent of students who are academically proficient. Art reinforces the reading and language skills students learn daily at school.
