  • Cultivating a Welcoming Learning Environment

    I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your generous contributions to my classroom. Since we received the furniture and items for our room my students use it daily. My students take pride in the space, keeping it clean and presentable. The couch is used for both an alternate work space but also, and more frequently, a place for them to comfortably socialize with one another. They love the couch so much sometimes they will squeeze in together four at a time.

    I have found that having the living room space in the classroom has changed the atmosphere entirely. Algebra is a difficult subject, especially for my students with disabilities, and having an inviting, comfortable space has allowed them to feel more at ease. I believe my students feel more welcomed and invested in; I have observed an increase in positivity towards math in general.
