  • Bullet Journaling: A Tool for Creativity, Productivity and Mental Health

    Funded Jan 16, 2023

(I posted this in early February, but on a different [the wrong] page.)

"Thank you so much! I'm excited about returning to work on Tuesday and telling my students that our Donors Choose collaboration was a success! They've done so much excellent work with the materials I scrounged up, I can't wait to see what they can do with proper supplies."

This has been a great semester of journaling. I've been amazed by the creative work and thoughtful work that my students have done, and gratified to know that many of them are planning on continuing the practice after the school year ends. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bolton

  • Games, Games, Games!

    Funded Feb 14, 2022

Thank you so much for funding our Board Gam Design elective! The games were so useful! Students used them as models for designing their own games. They learned so much about designing boards and writing rules from them.

Students were so excited to have so many games to use as models. They were also super-excited about learning how to play new games they'd never seen. Every day, those games brought joy to those students.

Having seen how much critical thinking and analysis went into developing board games, I'm now thinking about how to integrate game design into my ELA class next year. These board games will get lots of use.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bolton

My students need the chance to explore together, create together, work together, and play together. This elective course on game design has been developed to give them that opportunity. Three times a week, this group has the opportunity to come together and think about ways to make fun things. In order to design games, they need to play--and understand--a wide variety of them. I want to provide them with a variety of games--competitive board games, cooperative board games, card games so that they have ideas to draw upon when designing their own.
