I am very fortunate to be the teacher of 37 fifth grade students this year. The boys and girls in class are hardworking and eager to learn new things. My two classes are comprised of English language learners and native English speakers. I am amazed at their positive attitudes...learning to read and write in English is not always easy. The make-up of the class is very special. The native English speakers learn so much from their language learning classmates. These children bring a new perspective to school. Some of these children had never even been to school in their native countries before. The English language learners are putting in so much effort to try to "catch up," linguistically, to their English speaking classmates. I have worked hard to create a positive and safe learning environment for all of my students.
