I teach at a charter school in a low-income area of IL and love every minute of it. Because of the population my class is lacking the funds for the basic math manipulatives they need to fully understand the concepts that I am teaching. I try my best to find creative ways to help my students learn, such as painting one side of lima beans a different color to make double-sided counters but after so much love from tiny hands, the beans began to crumble and the paint is worn away. Everything that I buy for my classroom comes straight from my pocket, so it would mean the world to me if you could help give my students the tools they deserve to excel.
