Basic Tools for Learning!
Funded Nov 29, 2023Thank you so much for your donation towards supplies for our classroom! This has improved organization skills for all 41 students! The second class of students who are using the book boxes feel like they have their own space to keep their belongings, instead of sharing a student size desk. This also allows better organizing for the first group since they now have the desk space. This is a huge game changer for our classes!
All of the other supplies that were donated help these students have what they need daily to be successful.
These students have been through a lot and some are still feeling the effects of Hurricane Ian. Families are still struggling to be able to afford supplying items needed for school.
Thank you so much!!”

Funded Oct 14, 2023Thank you for your donation! My students are LOVING the snacks you provided! The snacks are helping them stay focused on classwork instead of distracted by hunger. Families are still feeling the impact of hurricane Ian and this relieves some of the pressure for both parents, guardians and teachers.
Many of us teachers have been impacted too and just can't provide as easily as before. The supplies that were donated have come in handy too! Folders are used daily to help teach organization skills. The pencils are greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you!”

Funded Oct 19, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students are demonstrating positive behaviors in class daily! This has been a "game changer"!! The excitement on their faces when boxes arrived at the classroom door! When we opened the boxes they were excited to see all the prizes and the word games!
Boggle and Bananagrams is used to help students "play with words". It gives them a hands on experience to think of words and move letters into places to create "new" words. It really gets their brain thinking. They are engaged in their learning!
The prizes are a hit! The wax lips and mustache are hilarious prizes! In my classroom one of the management systems I use is tickets. I randomly hand out tickets for participation, following directions, being helpful, kind or whatever. They save their tickets for 2 weeks. Then we have a drawing. The drawing is optional and they can put in how many tickets they want out of their stash! They can save tickets. The prizes change sometimes. They work so hard to earn these prizes and really like them! One of the favorites is the silly pencils and fidgets!
Thank you for your donation!”

Funded Nov 16, 2022Wow!! Thank you for all the generous donations! These snacks have been a lifesaver for my students! First, choosing items with them to put in the project was so much fun! They couldn't believe that people would just donate their money so they could have snack AND they could PICK the snacks! Then!!!! When the boxes started arriving and we opened them! Whoa! The excitement was uncontrollable!
Every day students are provided with a time for snack. They are supposed to bring a snack from home. However, since a lot of families were financially affected by Hurricane Ian students were happy to hear that this was one less thing they needed to ask their parent for!. They choose one snack each day from the packets of snacks. Each one is appreciative and thankful to have this provided for them. We STILL have several boxes of snacks left. YOU have been feeding 21 students every day for 3 months! They look forward to 10:00 snack and independent reading time!
THANK YOU very much! They will remember this forever!”

Books to Keep Students Engaged and Interested in Reading
Funded Oct 17, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity! My students were so excited to see the boxes arrive at our classroom door! Students are learning to use context clues to determine meaning, they are understanding authors perspective and point of view. The books are allowing us to have real conversations and become engaged in the text.
Reading in my classroom looks different all the time. Sometimes students read independently, they read with a peer, they read in a small group or we read as a whole group. Reading happens in the dark, with flashlights! Reading happens with our 7 year old, first grade book buddies! Sometimes we change our voices to read, and sometimes we whisper! My students this year absolutely LOVE reading plays!
Thank you so much for helping to make reading fun for all their different levels!”

Funded Oct 15, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my project! The students faces lit up as we opened the boxes of games! They couldn't wait to jump in and play!
Students use the reading strategy games during center time as a way to practice their reading skills in a fun way with their friends. They are having so much fun playing, they forget they are learning too! The social skills they are using is a huge part of this idea as well. So many of these students were in 2nd grade when the pandemic hit. They needed practice on how to talk to others and how to respectfully disagree.
We are planning a Reading Bootcamp! Students will have several "stations" to visit throughout the week so they can review skills and strategies for reading. We will implement the games into the bootcamp! Students will travel from activity to activity and will review as they play!
Thank you for your generous donation!”

Funded Oct 17, 2022Thank you very much for donating so my students could get new school supplies. Several students had damaged materials from Hurricane Ian. We were able to easily replace what they had lost. Students who normally would have new supplies as they ran out were given supplies on the spot, just because of the hardship some of the families have endured. Parents and guardians are appreciative.
Students who were in need were excited to see that they had needed supplies at their finger tips. Their faces lit up as the boxes were delivered to our classroom!
Replacing pencils, colored pencils, glue sticks and scissors for every day use has been a blessing! Construction paper has been used for the construction of Fractured Fairy Tale book covers, thank you cards, holiday cards and vocabulary word work. The folders have been used to help students organize several different classes of work. All the different and fun pens have gotten the kids excited about practicing cursive! We use the highlighters to underline important text evidence in our Social Studies Weekly and in our essay writing. The prizes are being used as rewards in the classroom every two weeks. The kids receive tickets in the classroom for random tasks. Someone might earn a ticket for being prepared for class, participating in class, being helpful, or having positive behavior. They get excited about choosing a prize each week!
Your donation is changing the lives of many students and making their days brighter!
Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 20, 2018Thank you for your kind donation to provide snacks for my 5th grade students. My students are respectful in the fact that if their parent sent a snack with them then they leave classroom snacks for the other kids. They are polite as they take one and leave the others for another day. They use their manners. They are really appreciative. I have students who look forward to a healthy snack each day. I allow them to have a snack while I read a chapter book aloud. They are very focused and participate in class discussions. I believe providing these snacks for my students has taken the focus off of being hungry and allowed the students to focus on the task at hand.”

Hands-on Activity Kits to Help Us Find Text Evidence!
Funded Nov 1, 2018Thank you for donating to our project! Students in my class need engaging, hands on activities that promote higher thinking. The activity cards are providing a learning experience like no other! The task cards run themselves! I pick which standard I want the students to work on and they know how to use dry erase markers to find text evidence that supports their answers. They also practice responsibility by cleaning the task cards when they are finished and have reviewed their answers with a teacher or peer. These activity cards are awesome!”

Chapter Books to Engage Students During Class Read-Aloud!
Funded Sep 21, 2018Thank you for donating so my students can each hold a book in their hand while I read aloud. Each student is able to follow along in the book and identify conversations between different characters. I am able to point out reasoning for punctuation placement. We are able to take note of unfamiliar words, then go back in the text to find a context clue as to what the word means. We are able to understand feelings and empathy. We are also able to make personal connections to the characters. Most of my students have working parents who do not have time to read aloud and have book discussions with their kids. My students thrive during this part of the day! Thank you for giving us two more opportunities to read books together and learn!
Your generosity is appreciated!”
