Technology for Teacher
Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Having access to a laptop daily has made content so much more accessible for my students. I can create presentations and project them for all of my students. The students love coming up to the front of the room and explaining their thinking as I project a problem or question on the projector screen. It is nice that I can animate my presentations and embed videos. Many of my students are visual learners and enjoy seeing the content come to life. I am also able to model for them how to play various math games so that they can independently practice their new skills.
It is wonderful to see my students so excited to learn. The visual animations and videos help to enhance the lessons - while creating a sense of excitement and novelty.
I once again want to thank you so much for donating to this project and making it come to life. We will be able to use this technology for years to come.”

Funded Oct 9, 2020Thank your for your generosity in helping to fund this important project. Due to the current pandemic, student access to books has been severely limited. Logistical problems have impeded the schools ability to loan and collect books from the school library. A great workaround however has been to purchase e-books off of iTunes! The iTunes gift card has been used to purchase several non-fiction titles that have sparked students' curiosity about STEM and careers in STEM. These types of books not only inspire students, but also illustrate the possibilities in terms of future career orientation.”

Funded Oct 6, 2020Words cannot begin to describe the gratitude that my students and I feel. Students have been inundated with hours upon hours of screen time. The use of these STEM resources has allowed students to get a much needed break from the computer and to engage in some fun, hands on investigations.
My tactile and visual learners are particularly engaged by these types of activities. One of our favorite STEM challenges was creating a bridge that would support as many pennies as possible. Students used their imagination, paper, and pennies to learn about the various types of bridge structures - and what constitutes a sturdy bridge. Students were amazed by the amount of pennies their paper bridge could hold!”

Funded Oct 2, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity. Distance learning has brought many challenges for teachers and students alike. Access to simple things such as manipulatives and white boards have proven challenging for the population of students that I service.
Through the use of the OSMO, I am able to model math problems and allow children to build words alongside me. Once we resume in person teaching, the OSMO will be even more powerful. Additonally, the OSMO serves as a document camera - which allows me to solve problems and share my thinking in real time with students. My visual learners love this!
Additionally, the Apple pencil has opened up so many new possibilities. I am now able to quickly and NEATLY solve problems, model strategies, and make sketches/models. No more having to use my finger to write and draw!”

Funded Feb 6, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations! The resources received have been enjoyed and shared by the staff at my school! The materials purchased included several resources to aide in teacher professional development. The students have been direct recipients of the knowledge the teachers have gained by reading the resource materials purchased with this grant. In addition to the books, the Ipad added to our ability to have access to podcasts and other educational lectures. Our current students and future students will benefit from our newfound expertise!”

Funded Aug 13, 2013Thank you so much for helping to fund our project! My students LOVED the Lakeshore Multicultural Clothing set. As soon as I unpacked the box, my students couldn't wait to try on the various outfits from different countries. Each week, as we learned about a different culture, students used the clothing to see firsthand the traditional dress of other cultures. They also loved the multicultural paints and paper. As part of our unit entitled "All About Us", students were able to use the paints and paper to create realistic and accurate portraits of themselves. Once again, on behalf of myself and my students, thank you!”

Funded Jun 7, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have greatly enjoyed using their new resources. During our independent work time, students gravitate towards the magnetic letters. They love spelling our their sight words and manipulating the letters to make words and sentences.
They are equally thrilled with using the magnetic white boards when writing sentences, dictating sight words to one another, working on addition and subtraction sentences....the list goes on!
Once again, on behalf of my students, thank you!”

Making Math Meaningful
Funded Jun 11, 2013I cannot begin to describe the tremendous impact that your generous donations have had on my students. As soon as I unpacked the Ipad, students were captivated. We were able to plug it in to our existing projector, and instantly, the way we learned was transformed. I was able to share educational songs/videos which have helped them tremendously in learning how to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's. I have also been able to access the online resources provided by our current math program (online) and share them with the class via the Ipad.
Students were equally impressed with the magnetic coins, numbers, pattern blocks, and fishing poles. We use the coins every morning when representing the number of days in school using coins. My students love being able to manipulate the coins.
During their math exploration time, students use the pattern blocks and numbers, along with the fishing poles to complete tangrams and construct number sentences.
Thank you again for your generosity!”
