My students are pure awesomeness! My students' background is heartbreaking, in itself. My school is a low performing, Title One, community school, in the middle of the Housing Projects. My school serves students who are 100% free and reduced lunch. We also serve breakfast and dinner to our scholars. My scholars love coming to school, because for some, this is the only consistency they have. Literacy is our biggest struggle, because we still have middle school students reading on a 1st-grade reading level. I feel if we catch the literacy deficiency early, we wouldn't have scholars reading so far below grade level, in middle school. Parental involvement is little to none, because of the struggles our families face daily. All in all, my school is awesome!
