  • Please help students with special needs participate in a bucket drum band. - part 1.

    Funded Jun 2, 2007

Thank you so much for your generous donation.

Since I submitted this application we have had to discard at least 10 of our Home Depot buckets - they broke because of repeated hitting with the drumsticks. Therefore, this news could not have come at a better time.

I can't wait to share photos with you. The students are getting so much out of this experience.

We have performed both in our school auditorium and at the Very Special Arts Festival at St. John's University.

    Thank you again for everything!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tetenbaum

  • Please Help Severely Autistic and Cognitively Delayed Children Expand Their Musical Horizons.

    Funded May 3, 2007

Thank you so much for your generous donation.

The keyboard will be used to help our students with their focusing, fine motor and other skills that they need during their daily lives.

The students will also experience instant success which will be so great for their self-esteem.

I can't wait to see them use it.

    Thank you SO MUCH!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tetenbaum

  • Please help Special Needs Students Participate in Bucket Drum Band - Part 2.

    Funded Apr 19, 2007

What wonderful timing! I learned of your generous funding today - which is the day we held our Spring Performance - and of course used our bucket drums.

Many of them have broken due to extensive use - and the fact that they are buckets - not drums.

Now the students will have the chance to use real instruments - one can only imagine how special that will make them feel.

We are looking forward to receiving them - hopefully you will be able to attend a future performance.

    Thank you again for everything.

    Sincerely,

    Barbara ”

  • Help a Physically Disabled Child Expand His Musical Horizons - Part 2

    Funded Jul 7, 2006

This is absolutely amazing - I am so delighted. The students I work with have severe physical and/or language limitations and the devices that you are so generously funding will give me even more flexibility in my music lessons.

Thanks to these devices more students will be able to actively participate in talent shows, lessons, music composition, etc.

Because I do not anticipate receiving the materials until sometime in September, I will send student feedback later in the fall semester - I hope to include audio samples of what they do - and I know they would like to thank you themselves.

    Thank you again for everything”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tetenbaum

  • Help a Physically Disabled Child Expand his Musical Horizons - Part 1

    Funded Jun 30, 2006

This is wonderful!!! Thank you so much! I am piloting a "banana keyboard" which enables students facing severe physical challenges to play music - The switches will help more of them to play independently. The iTalk Communicators will enable our non-verbal students to sing.

    Thank you again for everything,

    Barbara T”

  • Please help a child who cannot speak sing a song or create a musical composition

    Funded Dec 27, 2005

    What a wonderful Holiday Surprise!!

    Thank you so much!!!

These items may not be "exciting" but they are so badly needed.

As you can imagine we use endless amounts of velcro, batteries, laminating pouches, etc.

The new laminating machine will make things so much easier.

Thank you so much for your generosity and for caring about our very special students”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tetenbaum

  • Bringing Back the Music

    Funded Nov 26, 2005

What a wonderful surprise!!! I can't thank you enough!

Some of the communication devices I am using are wearing out so this could not have come at a better time!

In January we will be presenting a short talent show involving high school students with autism and students with multiple handicaps. Because of your generosity more students with multiple handicaps will be able to participate.

Have a wonderful holiday and thank you for everything!

    Sincerely,

    Barbara ”

    With gratitude,
