Engaging Students With Flexible Seating Options!

Funded Sep 2, 2019

When my 8th graders initially saw all of my flexible seating options, they were wide -eyed and inquisitive! "Are those for us?" "Can we pick where we want to sit ?" were some of their queries. Flexible seating expectations were modeled in class. A contract outlining the expectations of using the flexible seating options was developed, discussed and sent home so that students and parents understood what was expected.

Students participate in independent work and/or group work, whether they're reading about real world issues or classic literature, while sitting in on a bean bag, cushion, or couch. The children LOVE having choice and voice!

Moving forward, we will most likely utilize our flexible seating options in some type of reward system to maintain engagement and appropriate behavior.

Thank you again to all of the generous donors who sponsored my FIRST EVER Donors Choose project!!!”
