My students attend a magnet school. They have recently been named in the top 100 high schools in the nation. While they are extremely intelligent, it doesn't always mean they have money. Many of my students have little or no way to research topics that will enhance their learning on important contemporary issues. My students are from very diverse cultures and backgrounds. While some have everything they need for a proper learning environment, many do not. Yet they face this challenge and still succeed in the classroom. Technology around our school is very scarce. One computer lab to service over 700 students is not always a very accommodating situation. Many times my students are unable to use the labs for research during regular class hours. Many devote many personal hours in order to complete assignments.
