  • Creative Crochet

    Funded Mar 19, 2022

Last year, my students were thrilled to receive your donated materials. We bonded over the yarn, as we collectively learned to crochet and weave. Students took yarn home to work on independent projects. They eagerly brought their crochet to the art room to shared their progress with me Their new-found skills gave them confidence and kept their hands busy at home and at school. I am including images of our weaving project as well as students independently working in the classroom. For this project we looked a Navajo rugs, and I read The Goat in the Rug by the Navajo Weaver, Geraldine to my students. My students and I look forward to using the materials you donated this year.

I can't thank you enough for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kapusta

  • Watercolor Wonders

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. Students used the materials to create art for Hispanic Heritage Month, including projects inspired by Mexican and Puerto Rican folk art. The glitter watercolors were a huge hit, and I will be incorporating them into my essential materials list. Students loved using the heavy-duty, professional grade watercolor paper. The quality of the paper enhanced their work and made it easier for students to explore watercolor. We are currently using the donated materials to create architectural and pop-up drawings.

You've made it possible for students to use watercolor as a vehicle for learning and self expression. My students and I appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kapusta

Students will complete a variety of watercolor paintings both in class and in an after-school art club. High-quality watercolor paper will enable students to get the most out of the medium, as it is absorbent and maintains a high level of moisture. Students will learn how to create watercolor washes, gradients, wet-into-wet washes and a variety of other techniques that they can apply to their work. The glitter watercolor sets will add an element of magic and fun that will engage students in their creative work. Some assignments will be mixed media, incorporating marker in both wet and dry applications.
