Help My High Schoolers Bond With Preschoolers Over Books

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped fund this proposal!!! I am so excited that my students will be able to have these books to read to the preschool children for this new school year. These are materials that would not have been available if it hadn't been for your help. These books will be loved and read over and over again by my high school students and the preschoolers they are working with. Through your donations, you have given my students the opportunity to form bonds with the preschoolers, which makes them excited about coming to school. Thanks again”

Do you remember sitting in high school classes and wishing you could be anywhere else in the world? I completely understand that feeling, which is why I strive to have my students make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world outside of that classroom. I am the only English teacher at a high school that is geared toward at-risk students, including the special education students that make up almost half of our student population. My school focuses on the students forming connections to the surrounding community in order to show them that they can make a difference and that they matter!
