  • Before There Was Google Translate...We Used Dictionaries!

    Funded Jan 20, 2017

We cannot thank you enough for all your help and generous donations. The students use the dictionaries daily and the teachers are appreciative of the support. You should have seen the look on the students' faces when I told them that they each would get their very own dictionary. Your donations speak volumes about the true nature and spirit of America, toward immigrants trying to better their education. Every language represented in my classes was included, making each child feel validated and special. Once again-thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pellicci

  • TIME to Help Us Grow as Readers!

    Funded Feb 27, 2015

What a wonderful gift you have all given us! So far we have received sample sets of our TIME for Kids subscription and are having so much fun reading! Every issue is packed full of colorful pictures and activities to go along with each article. In addition, each article has an online component with connected videos and worksheets! It's such a breath of fresh air to be able to read something with the kids that is actually on their level. They are learning new words and concepts from each issue! I can already see what a wonderful gift this subscription will be and can't wait for our next shipment. We are so grateful!”

  • Fun and Games! Bring Back the Fun!

    Funded Jun 30, 2014

We would like to thank you so very much for making a difference in our ESL class. The student's are so motivated to learn, thanks to you and your generous donation. Every day, the student's come to class asking to play the games bought with your donation. When they are playing these educational games like Boggle and Jenga, I see their faces light up! In this new country, filled with so many roadblocks for the language learner, you have helped me create a safe haven and fun learning community.

The kids now know that if they earn a certain number of behavior points each week, they can participate in "fun Friday", thus further motivating them. All in all, these games have made a huge impact on both learning and attitude in our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pellicci

Our junior high school houses a huge population of newcomer ESL students, mostly from Asia. A newcomer is a student who has recently come to this country. These newcomers speak very little English and have a very hard time adjusting to this new and scary world. Many of their families are disjointed, spanning across oceans and time zones. My ESL classroom is their home away from home. We often refer to ourselves as a "family". Please help us with the materials we need to learn and grow!
