My Junior English class is a college-prep course filled with many struggling learners. The more motivated students typically sign up for Advanced Placement or the International Baccalaureate programs, leaving basic college-prep classes without many peer models. While the entire school is not considered socio-economically disadvantaged, there is great disparity, with a majority of those at a lower level in my classes.
