I teach K-5 science at an urban elementary school in Minnesota. My students come from very diverse backgrounds and many of them are recent immigrants. It's a high-poverty population and many of them have survived great amounts of trauma that has disrupted their education. While their lives are often tough, they have an amazing amount of resilience and strength that I want to cultivate. My mission in teaching science is to inspire them to reach high and aim for big goals beyond their immediate understanding of what is possible to achieve.
