The next day after lunch, students returned to laptops on their desk, which aroused their curiosity. Their anticipation heightened as they realized I was giving them the independence they so often desire. As I worked with the struggling student, I simultaneously taught my students the science concepts through their laptops. I had thus cloned myself and every child was learning! After a few weeks of intense work, my struggling student was able to move to the next reading level. I asked him to share with the class what he had done to become a better reader. He started in a serious tone reciting specific reading strategies he had learned. Suddenly, his demeanor changed and his face beamed as he quickly realized what he had accomplished. He shouted, “I just started saying all of my words right!” The classroom cheered as if he had just climbed a mountain. He felt on top of the world!
