Make It Last Forever...and Ever!

Help me give my students a new laminator, trimmer and the materials that go with it. We need durable materials in our elementary school. We use visuals for everything and want them to last!

  • Mannequin Heads - Hair Art & Financial Literacy

    Funded Sep 14, 2024

Thank you everyone!!! You have no idea how happy you have made my group of girls. They were screaming with joy when I pulled the mannequin heads out of the boxes. Earlier in the week we visited a CTE school that had cosmetology, but didn't get to explore the heads, so this was a joyous surprise.

Now, they are up close and personal with learning the vocabulary, applying the techniques and understanding the value of this craft in terms of financial literacy and independence.

My girl group (GEMs) know the difference between a comb, tail comb and rat tail comb. They are able to part hair (starting at the nape) and style different types of braids. They have added a new skill that can make them some money. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Ladies! We Got You Covered! Period!

    Funded Jan 18, 2025

This couldn’t have come at a better time! In our elementary school, many of our girls are in need of feminine products because they are “caught off guard” in school and don’t have access. This will help with good menstrual health management and allow them to participate fully in daily life and all school activities. Attendance and academic performance will no longer be a factor. Thank you so much.”

  • Eat Well...Be Well

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

We are so appreciative of the snacks that you sent to us. Earlier this school year our group discussed the importance of a healthy diet and why it is important to eat healthier snacks. Reducing the amount of sugar and trans-fats has led us to looking at healthier snacks; which promote good nutrition. This is essential in living a longer and happier life.

When the students first saw the snacks, they were so excited. They could not believe that this was given to them. Sometimes students didn't have the funds or time to get a snack for school to keep them alert in class, so this was a blessing. Thanks to all of YOU, my students are able to be alert and healthy in school!”

  • Hot Off the Easy Press!

    Funded Mar 23, 2022

Having this Hot Easy Press has been wonderful. For my GEM girls (Girls Empowering Movement), we purchased shirts and used the easy press to have them create their own individual affirmations. We had to watch a few YouTube videos to know how to do it, but after researching, we were ready and enjoyed pressing the letters onto our shirts.

Having a uniformed shirt that was also personalized on their goal (which still related to the overall theme of being an empowered female) was such a terrific feeling. They hugged me and thanked me and I told them, that it was because of people like you!!!! So thank you!! They said the shirts were so beautiful. The girls were eager to wear it on our meeting days and read their affirmation to each other before we began our weekly sessions. They began owning their affirmation too!

Thank you so much for allowing my girls to be connected to each other as well as themselves!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Creative Self-Exploration Through Journaling!

    Funded Feb 26, 2022

This school year was really hard. Yes, academically many of the students struggled, but the social emotional state of our students was very difficult to monitor. Some students didn't have a problem sharing their feelings to their peers, but there were a good number of children who did - and it was challenging to know how they felt.

Well, with intentional lessons and this wonderful journal about self-love, my students were able to open up and feel comfortable and safe, talking/identifying/learning how to do things like standing up for themselves, learning from their mistakes and how to respect themselves.

Students had time of reflection and opportunities to share their entries, too. They looked forward to writing and expressing themselves weekly and wanted to do it every day. It was a great feeling to see how these topics helped these seniors become better versions of themselves!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams
