Cool Off!
Funded Aug 26, 2019The fans are truly a blessing. My classroom only has two working windows, my school is under construction so there is no air coming into the room. The fans allow air to circulate around the room. Each fan is in the corner, allowing the air to circulate and reach every student. The students are able to better focus because there is cool air flowing throughout the classroom. The air flow and constant circulation allows the room to be cool, the students to be cool and comfortable. Learning is able to take place in the cool.”

Funded May 28, 2019Thank you Karen Burns for donating the amazing fans to my five classes. Now that the weather is getting warmer and warmer since summer is coming ; our classroom suffers. Our classroom is hot! Thank you for cooling us off. IS 162 in not air conditioned, so we roast in the hot classroom. Now all of my students are able to cool off. This allows my students to listen, focus, and get their work done. It is difficult without air circulation. The cooler the students are the better they behave. Students need to be cool in order to succeed.”

Funded Aug 1, 2017Thank you for your generosity. I teach a diverse population of learners with various special needs. Many of my students do not have access to technology except for what they are exposed to in school. The chrombooks allow me as a teacher to reach all of my students in a multi modality way. I am able to tap into their funds of knowledge by giving them access to technology daily. Students can now listen to a book, while reading along on the computer, they can do research, they can type instead of write, they complete assignments and assessments online seeing their grades immediately. This technology is making a huge impact on student learning. Thank you for your kindness.”

Book Shortage
Funded Mar 9, 2016My diverse learners enjoy reading a great book. They now have some high interest books which they love and are enjoying. The key to reading is being able to select a book that is of interest. We now have a variety of books to select from on their reading levels. This is helping all learners engage in reading, practice reading and improve. Students not only read the books, but when finished complete a book summary and a well written report. They then present their work along with a book recommendation to peers. This is helping students grow as readers and writers as well as improve their speaking skills. Thank you for your generosity.”

Technology Boost
Funded May 6, 2014Thank you for your generosity by donating my class Pad's. My students have a variety of special needs. I am now able to reach them through auditory and through visualization. Now that we have technology in our classroom I am able to project my lessons on the smart board as well as email them to their account. Now, my students are able to visualize as well as listen along with the Pad's during the lesson. They are then able to go and practice recently learned strategies via different sites using the Pad's. This is a great learning tool. My students benefit greatly from having technology. Thank you, we couldn't have done it without you.”
