Funded Feb 15, 2019Thanks to your generous donation I have been able to create a homework library for my students. Now my students can bring home a baggie of books each night. These homework baggies have made such a difference for my struggling readers. It means that every night they can practice the skills and strategies they have been learning in their reading intervention groups. This practice has helped them grow by leaps and bounds this year. And parents are thrilled to be able to see what their kids have been learning. Now parents have an easy tool to help their children grow and succeed.
With the leveled book sets they can choose books that they know they can read and understand. This helps build their confidence and engagement. The nonfiction books have beautiful pictures and engaging content. The comic books are wonderful. It is very difficult to find funny books at low reading levels, and these books are very funny! My students laugh out loud when they read them. And my students are thrilled to have books with beloved characters like Biscuit and Paw Patril.
I cannot thank you enough for donating these books to our classroom. They have made a world of difference to my students and have made a lasting impact on their lives as readers.”

Ms. J.
Best Friend Books for Little Readers
Funded Nov 22, 2018My students love these wonderful books! This donation has made such a difference in my classroom. During reading intervention time, my students work to improve their decoding skills and reading comprehension so that they can become proficient readers. This requires exiting books that I can read out loud to them as well as books they can read to themselves during choice reading time. All of this practice helps build their reading skills and confidence.
My students laugh out loud when I read the Giggle Gang series books. They are highly engaging and funny and my students cannot get enough of them! It is so difficult to find books at a low reading level that kids actually love to read- and that's exactly what these books are! Reading them has helped my student's improve their fluency and comprehension and has made reading time so much more enjoyable for them.
These books have had a profound impact on the learning environment in my literacy intervention classroom. Rather than just the usual dry pattern books, my students now have beautiful books with delightful stories and characters - all at an accessible reading level! On behalf of my student, thank you!”

Funded Sep 27, 2017Thank you for these wonderful books. My students were absolutely thrilled to receive them and they have made such a difference in our classroom! Having these high-level, high-interest books in our classroom library has really raised the quantity and quality of reading going on there. We have at least 30 minutes of independent reading time when children can choose their own books and the I Survived and sports books have become some of our most requested. Zavion was thrilled to read about his favorite basketball players, letting out an audible sigh when reading time was over and he had to put down this beloved text. Alberto was ecstatic to have a book about his favorite soccer stars and has already reread this book at least half a dozen times! Perri and Ava debate who will have first dibs on their favorite Simone Biles biography. The I Survived books are always some of the first books selected. These historical fiction books help kids learn about real events in a narrative format that deepens their reading comprehension skills. They are exciting and engaging - and my students are absolutely hooked! Thank you again for helping my students develop a love of reading. Thanks to your support they are now one step closer to becoming lifelong readers and learners!”

Books for Struggling Readers
Funded Sep 22, 2017My students are thrilled about these books and they have been extremely popular during independent reading time! My students have 40 minutes each day to enjoy reading books of their choice, and many students reach for titles from among this set each time. Adding to our selection of books with favorite characters like Cat the Cat, Gerald and Piggie and the Pigeon has greatly increased the reading options for our struggling readers. Dragons Like Tacos, Secret Pizza Party and Those Darn Squirrels were new to many of my students, but the funny stories and engaging illustrations soon sucked them in and they have quickly become new favorites. With these books in our library, my students are more excited for independent reading and are making much better use of this time, helping them grow into stronger readers every day. Thank you for helping these young readers grow!”
