The Wolf Den is a space on campus that aims to incentivize positive behavior and positive decision-making for students with IEPs that have major behavior struggles and barriers to their social-emotional development and growth. It will be a relaxing space full of developmentally-appropriate incentives (art space, music station, technology).
The Wolf Den is a critical piece in a behavior management system that will allow students with extreme behaviors and social-emotional barriers to work on their skills in the least restrictive setting possible. The Wolf Den will serve as a major incentive for students to work toward behavioral and social-emotional goals and engage in pro-social behaviors on campus.
To gain access to the Wolf Den, students will utilize a daily point sheet that outlines 4 specific behaviors (being on time, following directions, using appropriate language, and staying in their assigned area) that they will need to exhibit throughout the school day. Students will have the opportunity to earn 4 points each class period and if they earn the necessary points, they will be able to access the rewards in the Wolf Den for the last 30 minutes of the school day. This space will be a major reinforcer of their positive choices and efforts.
We are building the Wolf Den from scratch, which means that we are asking for quite a few donations. The den will include a cozy seating area (mini-fridge, sofa and bean bags), an art space (paint, brushes, drawing pencils), a music and media center (head phones) and a game area (Connect 4, Uno, Jenga, tabletop foosball). Students that earn time in the Wolf Den will have access to all donated items.
