  • Immigrant Opportunities

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of your kindness, my students have been able to share the love of reading in their home language. These students are able to bring books home and read them with their siblings and family members extending their knowledge and improving their comprehension. These books open new worlds to them both fictional and nonfictional. They improve and add to their background knowledge of third-grade topics. I would never be able to give these students these opportunities without incredibly generous donors like you. Thank you for making my job as an educator that much easier!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scarpinato

  • Expanding Our Possibilities

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to my project. This year I was moved to another grade, one I was unfamiliar with. Because of your donations and generosity, I was able to stock my library with many different types of books to meet the needs of my students. I was able to purchase series books where my third graders fall in love with characters and follow them throughout their series across books. Because of your donations, my immigrant English language learners were able to have books in their home language and see themselves in the books they read. They are able to share their love of reading in their home languages with their families as well which in turn, makes their learning so much more enjoyable. I am so thrilled to have these supplies and resources readily available for my students and helping to aide their love of fictional reading. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I could not be the teacher I am today without the support of donors like you !”

  • Magic Carpet Request

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project. This year I got moved to a new grade and into a new room that was not used before so I had little to no furniture for my students, including a place for them to meet and learn. Because of your generosity and thoughtfulness, I am able to fit all 32 of my third graders on the carpet for learning. They also use the carpet for other things too! They grab their books and stretch out to read. Because of your donation, my students have the opportunity to get out of their seats and change their scenery when learning. I am so thrilled to give them this space. I would not be able to be the teacher I am today, without people like yo, so thank you a million times thank you.”

Thannk you so much for taking the time to donate to my project. It is such a relief to have a safe and sanitary place to store the few ipads I have for my 35 students to share. Because of your generosity I am able to teach them about keeping thier school supplies and resources clean and neat. I am also able to teach them how to organize and charge their devices while giving the responsibility of classroom jobs. Because of your gorgeous new carpet, my students have a nice inviting comfortbale place to gagther, meet in groups and steretch out with a great book. Your carpet purchase has also given them the opportunity to get up from their seats and move around during their lessons. I can not thank you enough for yoru kindness and thoughtfulness in supporting my classroom this year. I could not be the teacher I am without the support of amazing donors like you!”

  • English Language Learners Listening

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

Thank you so much for providing my classroom with these amazing books and CDs. BY purchasing these items you have given my English language learners a chance to listen to these classic tales being read to them and follow along. These materials also help support the students who are lower readers and not quite able to read independently on their own. The beautiful books and lively CD's give them a chance to be a part of independent reading and really enjoy it. They are able to sit and listen to the story while following along with the audio. I can already see their love of reading increasing. They look forward to reading workshop now where they know they get to hear these stories! Thank you so much for taking the time to help my students and my self have a successful second grade school year.”

  • Back to Basics

    Funded Dec 16, 2022

Thank you so much for providing my classroom with these essential materials. It is so hard to make ends meet and still provide these special materials like the ones you purchased for my class. We are all so grateful for your kindness and generosity. Without people like you, teachers like me could not be the best we can be for these students. They love using the materials such as the culture crayons, so they can see themselves in their pictures and illustrations they create. The laminating pouches you provided also allows me to preserve certain materials I use every year and keep them for next years students to use again and again. Thank you so much for taking the time to help my students and my self have a successful second grade school year.”

  • Beginnings With Books

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for giving my class the gift of reading. They have been so excited to pick up new books in their hands. Their faces light up when they are able to sit with a brand new book and escape life for a while. I have been able to encourage them to read more because of your generous gift to us. You helped me start my library which in turn has helped me instill a love of reading to my students. Every day they search for a new book to read. They share them with each other and bring them home to read with their families. Because of your generosity my students reading levels are improving and they are becoming strong readers. Having a love for reading with new resources like the ones you provided for us, will help them grow and grow and grow! As a new teacher to this school, it was challenging for me to start the school year off with limited books and books that were in bad shape. There is something to be said when strangers open their hearts to children and give them the opportunities to fall in love with learning, like you have! Thank you so so much for your support.”

  • ENL Listening, Learning, Language

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Your generosity once again has exceeded our expectations. You have always been so kind and thoughtful with your donations. With all the times changing, it is challenging to stay current and help my students excel with technology. Because of your kind donation, we are able to provide headphones for all the students in the class. This tool helps them in so many ways. They are now able to listen to stories in their native language as well as English. They can learn English with software and apps. They can also play games and have the directions read to them with the headphones. I can not thank you enough for all your kindness and donations.”

  • Diverse Books = Diverse Learners

    Funded Dec 27, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are able to read these beautifully written culturally responsive books every day and have enjoyed them. They are able to see characters like themselves in these books which has made them love reading. Because of your kindness , they are able to get lost in a book and connect with the characters because of the connection to their cultures. Thank you for helping me provide resources that are mirrors to the students, their families , and their cultures.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scarpinato

My students are new to the country. Their native language is Spanish. They are new to the school and new to being exposed to the English language. They attend a public inner city school in New York and are adapting to living in the United States for the first time. In the classroom there are no Spanish books for them to read and feel comforted by. In order to ease them into the school setting, and feel like a true student, Spanish books are important for them to fit in.
