  • Making Math Fun!

    Funded Dec 20, 2021

My students and I are very grateful for your generous donations. We are using all our fun math games and manipulatives to learn new strategies to solve math problems.

One thing that we use on Fridays is the addition/subtraction and multiplication/division math Bingo. The students look forward to playing while still learning important facts. We also love using our base ten frames. With our math program, students learn how to use their ten frames to solve problems more easily. Since they are magnetic, it is easier for our students to manipulate the counters to create new problems.

Our students were really excited to begin using all the things that got donated. The smiles on their face were priceless as we introduced the materials to them. They were really happy and sometimes didn't want to switch activities because they were so engaged. We will continue to incorporate all the material into our lessons to make our students more engaged in the lessons. Once again, THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zendejas

  • Research Projects!

    Funded Jan 28, 2018

Thank you very much for your generous donation to buy our classroom a Chromebook. Having technology is very helpful for student learning. Students are able to work on reading programs like Lexia and Khan Academy. Students also work on Moby Max which is a program that individualizes students learning based on their needs. These programs give them the extra help they need and that can not be done if we did not have technology.

Unfortunately, many of our students do not have technology at home. Having the privilege to work on different educational programs in the classroom is just fascinating to them. They are excited to come to school and know that they will be able to use these devices to further their understanding on some subjects. My students are excited to not only learn through my teaching but through technology as well. Many look forward to working in groups to create Power points on different topics they research.

All my students are very grateful for this new technology. They work hard and take care of our new Chromebook as if I were their own property. They come to school every day ready to learn and use this awesome new technology. My students couldn't be any happier!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zendejas

One area where we constantly struggle in the classroom is access to technology. Having 5th grade students requires us to use technology for many different reasons. One thing we would love to do more of is research projects. Having only two computers in the classroom and sharing two computer labs with 20 other teachers, projects like that are very limited. Since most of my students come from low income families, most of them do not have the privilege of having a computer at home. Having an extra Chromebook in our classroom will not only help us with research projects, but also with typing our essays and using our educational websites like Lexia, Khan Academy, and Read Works.
