  • Achieve and Succeed: Student Rewards

    Funded Jan 29, 2025

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom store! The students will be so excited to see all of the wonderful incentives they can earn. We appreciate this so much and I know the students are going to love everything. It will definitely help them to strive towards excellent conduct, citizenship, and academics.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diaz

  • Books, Books, and More Books!

    Funded May 27, 2021

Thank you so much for helping our classroom receive our novels! I teach Gifted Reading Grades 4 and 5. To make our learning more challenging and fun, we love to read novels in class. The novels help my students master the Florida Standards in a different way than just reading the usual textbooks. My students really enjoy reading and would beg me to read the novel every day.

The donation from Donors Choose allowed each of my students to have their own book. Without your generosity, I would have to have read the book aloud while the students just listened. Having their own copy helped them to understand the material and follow along better. Students were able to practice their reading skills by taking turns reading out loud to the class.

We just finished reading the novel Hoot. The students really enjoyed learning about the endangered owls right here in South Florida. We discussed the themes of choosing between right and wrong, standing up for what you believe in, and friendship. The students really loved the book and I could see their compassion for the animals as we were reading. Thank you again for helping my classroom and students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diaz

This classroom project was brought to life by The Center for Disaster Philanthropy and 7 other donors.
This project will make a difference in my students' learning because it will allow them to read something other than the standard curriculum. We have not been able to read many novels this year due to the pandemic. One full class of my students is working from home, so they do not have access to novels. Since we can no longer share materials, each student will need their own individual copy of the text in order for us to be able to read it together. In years past, students have been able to share books with each other. Please help my students continue their reading by affording them each a set of novels to read so that we can continue our reading instruction through novels. The students just love reading novels and I want them to be able to continue doing so, even though our school year is a little different this year.
