Creating Social Butterflies!
Funded Oct 1, 2013My students were thrilled to receive these new resources! These resources have added tremendous support to several of our classroom routines. As we begin each school day, students choose a desired activity that they will receive during "Choice Time" at the end of the day. Students complete tasks and follow classroom rules and expectations to earn pennies toward their Choice Time activity. At the end of the day, students eagerly count their pennies and put them into the cash register.
During our morning circle routine, students enjoy singing along and creating music with their new tambourines. My students love participating in activities and lessons that involve music and movement! The color and shape activity mats have been extremely beneficial as a part of our "Sounds in Motion" literacy program. This program pairs letter sounds with motions and helps the students blend letter sounds to read words. As the students participate in this activity, the star activity mats give the students a designated area to fully participate in their Sounds in Motion!
Another program that has been implemented in my classroom is called "Cookshop." Through this program, students are introduced to new food within the fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy groups. My students love wearing their aprons as they explore and create new recipes! The Velcro has allowed me to display countless visual symbols that help my students participate successfully in routines and activities throughout each day. Our seat storage pockets also help store items that are repeatedly needed. All of the new resources are helping my students make academic and social gains!”

All About Visuals: Materials to Create Lasting Resources
Funded May 9, 2013The resources that I have received have allowed me to create countless materials that my students use repeatedly throughout the school year! I have created books and visuals that target their specific needs. While my students' needs vary on skill levels, providing each student with a book or particular lesson topic and a corresponding picture symbol helps to make the unit of study meaningful and relevant to their lives.
Having the opportunity to have information presented visually has allowed my students to gain a deeper understanding of the material presented in class. In addition to improvements in reading comprehension, science, and social studies skills, the students are able to explore and master core math skills that are essential to their daily lives!”
With gratitude,
