Covid Recovery for Young Learners!
Funded Sep 21, 2023It is with my greatest gratitude that I send this letter of appreciation. My students see my classroom as a second home. It is a comforting place that they know they will be loved and supported through their learning adventures. Your donations helped my classroom have the feeling of comfort. The mat when they enter the door that says "hello", the soft pillows in the reading/ calming corner, the abc pillow, the fluffy rug, and the abc decorations are just a few things that make a kindergarten classroom feel like home. Just the other day I noticed a student saying their letters while holding the abc pillow. It was darling. As you know we as teachers spend A LOT of our own money on our classrooms so these donations are greatly appreciated.”

Funded Jan 25, 2018Thank you so much for your gracious donations to my students. My students love collaborating with each other as they build houses and cars with their Lakeshore STEM kits.
Planning and building is an advanced skill for kindergarten students. By using familiar stories such as The Gingerbread Man as a starting point, my students had a wonderful time trying to build a raft for the gingerbread man to float on. It was a difficult task with rubber bands and plastic clips but not a single student gave up. It even lasted a few days for some groups.
All of these donations made the kindergarten learning experience even more fun and engaging than it usually is.”

Funded Jul 27, 2017I know you will see the photos included in this thank you package. A photograph really says it all. My student LOVE the STEM kits they received. All of the kits coordinate with some of our favorite childhood stories such as, The three little bears, The three little pigs, and The three billy goats gruff. With these kits my students are able to problem solve conflicts they heard in the story. They loved building a chair that wouldn't break when the toy bears sat in them. They were thrilled when they discovered how to build a bridge to hold the three billy goats as they crossed the bridge safely. They especially enjoyed building a house for the three little pigs to hide from the big bad wolf. I even brought in my hair dryer to see if we could blow down their house. These STEM kits gave my students the opportunity to create, problem solve, and work together all while having a great time.”

Kindergarten Math Scholar
Funded Oct 10, 2014We can't thank you enough for the books and supplies you provided to our classroom. My students were thrilled seeing the boxes arrive at our door. It was like Christmas for all of us. They all felt very special to be chosen by Chevron to receive so many amazing new math games, books and games for our smart board and computer.
I think the comment by one of my students sums up how we all felt. "Are you serious Mrs. Gallagher?" "All of that is for us?" We started using the math computer games the day that they arrived. As soon as I could load them onto the computer they were being used. Two of my students that are at the very beginning stages of reading were the first to use the science little books. They thought the photographs were so much more fun to read than the paper black and white books we usually use.
Thank you so much. People not in education usually don't understand the impact they can have on children. Thank you for using your resources for a great cause.”

Independent Kindergarten Learners
Funded Nov 27, 2012I can't begin to thank you enough for the very generous gift you have given my kindergarten students. From the moment the boxes arrived there was a buzz of excitement. I opened the boxes in front of my student and I would be surprised if you didn't hear if the cheers from miles away. We started using the smart board and computer learning games that very day. My students use them every single day and LOVE them. I am so pleased to see how they're learning at a quicker pace with just these few new tools at their disposal.
The file folder games are another exciting addition to my class. Since many of the learning games need to be introduced by an adult it is great for when we have a parent helper stop by. After one introduction the kids love doing them on their own or with a partner.
The stamps and stamp pads have been a huge hit in just the last couple of weeks. My students have been stamping out word, their names, and even a sentence or two. They might be covered in a bit of ink by the time they are done but then learning is exciting sometimes you get a bit messy.
Thank you again for your generosity. My students have already shown progress that they would not have had without your donation.”

Mrs. Gallagher
