  • Focusing on Social- Emotional Learning

    Funded Apr 9, 2025

I am overwhelmed with your amazing generosity and support of my students and families. The mindfulness journals, engaging workbooks, stress balls, sensory tools, mindfulness coloring books, and CBT resources will help make small-group and individual counseling sessions for high school students fun and engaging. It's so much more fun to learn and practice new coping skills when you have engaging materials.

I have already been able to share some of the materials with some of my students. In particular, I have students who have started to really use journaling and coloring as coping strategies to relieve their stress or overwhelming thoughts. Students are encouraged to use these techniques at home and in school and to report back their success stories. I hope the techniques and strategies learned will become life-long skills for my students.

I am also excited to use the books focused on parenting teens when I consult with parents on supporting their children's mental health. Our student services team is also making plans to host a parenting workshop so that parents will have resources to help their children as they work to hone in on their social- emotional skills.

Again, thanks so much for helping me in supporting social- emotional learning for my high school students”

    With gratitude,

Thanks so much for supporting my project. I'm so appreciative of your generosity and kindness in helping to supply my students with needed supplies.

Your support has allowed me to stock my office with much needed snacks, school supplies, and counseling materials.

Sometimes, kids just need a snack, a change of clothes, a warm smile, or a safe place where they can get re-grounded before tackling the rest of their day. And, you helped me supply that support for my awesome students. Thank-you! Your support has definitely made a positive impact in the lives of my students.”

  • Help Me Create a Welcoming, Calming Space for My Students

    Funded Dec 18, 2024

Thank- you! Thank- you! And, thanks again! I am full of gratitude for your support of my project.

My students have been so excited to use the sensory putty, sensory manipulatives, and to access snacks from the new shelving system. These new materials have helped to create a calm, welcoming space for my high school students. It has also provided a safe space for overwhelmed students to land as they work to become grounded and ready to tackle the rest of their day.

I am so thankful for your amazing generosity and look forward to continuing to use these fun and engaging materials with my students.”

  • Learning Healthy Ways to Combat Anxiety and Stress

    Funded Nov 1, 2024

I want to thank you for funding my project for engaging and innovative counseling materials. The new materials I have received have enabled my students to learn about effective coping skills and cognitive behavioral techniques within an interactive group setting or during individual counseling sessions. The students have seen the materials from this funded project and the new materials have increased their motivation to learn productive ways to manage their feelings of worry and anxiety.

I have met with several students already and introduced these materials within individual counseling sessions. Several students have needed to work on strategies to manage feelings of worry, anxiety, or depression. They have found the journals, workbooks, putty, and stress balls to be very beneficial. In many cases, they are able to return to class refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of their day. Presently, individual students are being identified who would benefit from learning to identify sources of stress and worry, understanding the physical impact of excessive worry, and learning coping techniques to reduce worry. Students will also learn to reduce anxiety through guided imagery, playing as a way to relax, humor, and art activities. Students will then be encouraged to use these techniques at home and in school and to report back their success stories. I hope the techniques and strategies learned will become life-long skills for these students. Thanks again for your amazing generosity.”

  • Creating Safe, Calm Spaces to Learn CBT and Grounding Skills

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank-you so much for your support of my project. Your generosity has already made a huge difference for many students this school year.

Many kids have visited my office in need of safe place to land. I am so appreciative to be able to offer them a snack, a warm smile, and a comfortable place to get re-grounded before tackling the rest of their day. Over the past month, many students have taken a few minutes to explore the new sensory station in my office. I am often able to use these opportunities to help students learn new healthy coping skills (i.e, sensory activities, deep breathing, journaling/ coloring). Over time, students are able practice skills introduced and they hopefully become healthy coping habits with long-term benefits. I have also been able to provide students with resources such as journals and sensory manipulatives so they can continue to practice the skills introduced.

Building relationships with trusted adults help students feel connected and supported at school. Likewise, having safe spaces to go when feeling stressed or overwhelmed support students in successfully recovering from uncomfortable situations. I want my students to always know that my office is a welcoming place where they can safely land no matter what the situation might be.

Thanks so much for helping me support my awesome students as they work to be successful learners!”

  • Staying Fueled up to Learn

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thanks so much for your amazing generosity in funding this project. It means so much for our students to have the nourishment they need to have a successful day at school.

I have seen many smiles this school year as I have been able to offer snacks and new school supplies to students. My students were overjoyed to see that my snack drawer is replenished with their favorite snacks.

It's so important for children to know that people are there to support and rally around them as they strive to be successful in the classroom. Kids need to know that adults care and are here to help support them. Through making sure that kids have the materials to be successful, we send the message that we care and are here to support them. Often, just taking the time to help a student meet what seems like a small need can make a huge difference in turning their day around so they concentrate on learning. Thank you for helping to send that message to my students. Your generosity is so appreciated!”
