Tell Me How It Ends by Valeria Luiselli will serve as an introduction to immigration in the United States. I piloted this in my Spanish 5 class this past year and had students reflect on the work as well as what they had learned in the fall about immigration. The overwhelming consensus was that this short essay was very impactful and aligned perfectly with the unit on immigration. Students were very grateful to have read the book, even though it was later in the year and highly recommended that I include it for next year's class. I would love for my students to each have a copy available at the beginning of the year so that I can efficiently move through the unit and culminate in a dialog (through a Socratic seminar in Spanish) at the end of the unit. I want them to use the essay as a resource for this unit but also as we continue to study the Latin American countries in Spanish throughout the year.
