Thank you so so much for the enormous generosity that you showed supporting this Donors Choose project. Being in a 1:1 classroom has helped me to begin to imagine - and see - what a redefined history classroom could look like. Being 1:1 has allowed my students to choose different areas of expertise to study within a given unit: some students can take a wide view and study the whole unit, while others can choose specific areas to zoom in on. Your choice to fund this project has allowed me to do that.

My students have enjoyed the freedom that being 1:1 has allowed them. The Chromebooks have given them great freedom in how they demonstrate their learning from a project: some can create presentations, others videos, while others can create drawings and murals. Being 1:1 has also allowed for more efficient division of labor within groups. Students are better able to divvy up and complete tasks collaboratively thanks to the Chromebooks.

When I initially put up this project, I didn't really expect to get it funded. Your generosity is truly awe-inspiring! I don't know what my classroom will look like next semester, much less next year. I do know, though, that this Chromebook project has allowed me to push on what kind of work can be done in a history classroom and has challenged me to continue to redefine what my classroom looks like.

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Lindgren-Streicher

Thank you all so much for your generosity towards my Chromebook project. As some of you know, Hillsdale High School (where I work) is a pretty progressive place. However, we are also very much behind when it comes to technology access for students in class. Your donation has helped to bridge that gap in my classroom.

The Chromebooks get used daily in my room. Students use them to write papers, to watch screencasts, and to look up visual references for materials we are covering. My students' ability to not only locate but also create information and knowledge has increased exponentially thanks to your generosity.

When our library is closed or full of students with a class, students come to my room to use the Chromebooks as well. Mock trial examinations have been sharpened, senior presentations have been created, and review work has been done by students who I do not directly teach but have benefited from your donation.

Your generosity has benefited students beyond just the ones I teach on a daily basis. Thank you so much for helping me to bridge the digital gap at Hillsdale and for creating new learning opportunities for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Lindgren-Streicher

My 9th and 10th graders are a diverse bunch in every sense of the word - ethnic background, family income, reading level, access to technology - the list could go on. A unifying theme, though, is that they are generally excited to come to history class. However, the digital divide is very real in my classroom - some students have their own laptop at home that they can bring to school, some have a smartphone in their pocket they can use, while others do not have a way to access the web inside or outside of class. These Chromebooks would level the digital divide in my classroom.
