Our Yarn Club Is Expanding!
Funded Aug 16, 2024Thank you so much for funding this project! We are so grateful to have new projects for this new 2024-25 school year. Your generosity has given our Yarn Club participants the opportunity to learn embroidery and needle crafts. When we opened the materials, one third grader exclaimed, "Wow, I can't wait to learn how to make that!" We feel very fortunate to be able to provide our Yarn Club participants the chance to express their creativity, work together, and to try new things.
One project this year that we are especially looking forward to is a collaboration with three local high schools. We will be working on a group banner yarn project that we can display at our school district's central office. We are so excited to honor our students' creative efforts. Thank you for making that possible!”

Funded Apr 22, 2024We were so excited to unpack our new books that arrived earlier this week. Before they arrived, we accessed the books online. After we opened the box and every student had their own copy, one student said, "Now reading is so much easier because I can point to each word and look carefully!"
My students and I are so appreciative that your support enabled us to have access to so many new titles. These new books provide us with new challenges that will help us become stronger readers. Each page has two lines of text. Our previous books had one line of text on each page. A first grade student said, "Wow, I am getting ready for second grade because now I can read longer words, and each page has more words!"
Your generosity is making a difference in our school. Thank you!”

Mrs. Marinell

Funded Dec 14, 2023Our Knitting and Crochet Club members are enjoying the new yarn! Your generous donations allowed us to purchase a variety of yarn. We now have such a wide selection of colors and textures. Our students have been creating decorations, scarves, necklaces, and handbags.
We are so grateful that your kindness and support has given our students the opportunity to showcase their creativity. We have been extremely proud that club members have been sharing project ideas and learning techniques from each other. The students were excited to hear that we are sharing photos of their projects.
Thank you for supporting our students! We appreciate your commitment to our community.”

After-school Yarn Club!
Funded Jul 3, 2023Our Knitting and Crochet Club student members were so excited when they saw our new yarn and looms! They were very pleased that we now have yarn in so many assorted colors. The looms will be a great addition to our club activities. They add a new, engaging challenge for a new school year!
A student who is new to the school saw me in the hallway with the yarn supplies, and she asked about how to join the club. She then showed me a beautiful yarn headband and bracelet that she had made. Your generosity has helped a new student feel welcomed and excited that she can share a skill with others.
Thank you for supporting our students' creativity and for setting such a positive example of how we can work together to help each other.”

Support Our Phonetic Skills With Decodable Reading Books!
Funded Jan 26, 2023Thank you so much for funding this project to bring decodable books to my classroom. My first grade students were so excited to see our new books that match the stories that we can access on our Smart Board! They were enthusiastic about describing the illustrations and finding words that they can read aloud. They are learning the concept of pointing to one word at a time and trying to decode each word phonetically. These books have the perfect number of words per page for beginning readers. The story we read today led to a great discussion about how the main character should interact with the other characters.
My students and I are very thankful for your support. I will plan to use these books for many years to come. We are very grateful to have multiple copies of engaging stories. Thank you!”

Funded Nov 19, 2018Thank you so much for funding our project to buy a printer and ink for our classroom. The printer arrived today, and we have already set it up! Having a printer in the classroom will allow us to quickly print and share our writing pieces. We have a classroom writing center where we are practicing writing stories and letters. Since all of the students in the classroom are learning English as a second language, being able to print, edit and share our writing quickly will be very useful.
Thank you for your kindness and support!”

Connecting English Language Learners to Google Classroom With Chromebooks!
Funded Sep 24, 2017Thanks to your generous donation, we received our new Chromebooks today! My students were so excited when the package was delivered. Today we practiced using a comprehension game connected to our reading series on our Smart Board. Tomorrow, thanks to the Chromebooks, students will be able to play the game with a partner. The additional Chromebooks will help us log on to Google Classroom, watch pre-selected instructional videos, submit and edit our writing pieces, and publish our high school application essays. Thank you for making these activities possible!”

Our Recording Studio
Funded Feb 22, 2017My students were very excited to unpack the new headphones. They were so happy to see the built-in microphones. We talked about how the headphones and microphones will be used in the classroom. The microphones will help us complete the recording component of our web-based Imagine Learning program, which was designed to help English Language Learners. The program records the students reading so that we can track their progress. The students will be able to play back their recordings and be proud of their growth.
We can also record and listen to skits. Our skit using Dr. Seuss inspired characters is almost ready to be filmed. Our puppet characters will inform younger students about Dr. Seuss's writing process.
My students want you to know that they appreciate your generosity. Your support of community projects and helping others is inspirational to us!”

I am looking forward to giving the students opportunities to publish their writing pieces. Having two additional computers will give each student the chance to publish a writing piece every week. We recently displayed our paragraphs about new sneaker designs in the hallway. The students were excited to hear praise from other children and staff about their work.
Thank you for making this project possible!”

Funded Dec 30, 2012My students and I are grateful for your generous donation. We are enjoying the lending library books and the Scholastic classroom magazine subscription. The planet books and magazines have interesting information and excellent photographs!
We are using the books and magazines at home to practice reading. It has been wonderful to have these additions to our lending library. The planet books are loaded with facts about space. For example, we learned that Mars has ice!
